Default Tootsie-Rawls for Halloween

*hee hee* .....Ok...granted I am having way too much fun with this!!!!

When I made the carawmella bars the chocolate layer reminded me of tootsie rolls...I made these using the chocolate layer from the carawmella bars..kneaded lucuma powder into it till it made a very stiff "dough"..pinched off pieces and rolled in wax paper. These do not melt at room temp but are soft...very chewy from the freezer but would be fine in the fridge..
I thought these would be a great treat for halloween!!!!

Tootsie-Rawls
1 cup raw cacao powder
1/2 cup mesquite powder
1/2 cup almond butter
3/4 cup honey or agave (I used a mix of both)
2 T. fo-ti
2 heaping T. lucuma powder
1 T. Vanilla
pinch sea salt

process in food processor till well blended...will be very stiff, stir down as needed
place in bowl and knead in more lucuma (several T.) till no longer sticky.
roll in logs, wrap in paper
store in freezer

GlimR,

These look divine. What could I use for the Mesquite Powder and Lacuma?

*hee* *hee*.......... You guys really crack me up!!!
Come on over......*dons fairie duds and gets ready to hand out goodies*

spiralgirl~
I've been thinking about your question...nothing's come to me yet, but it's early in the morning~ The thing is not only is the mesquite and lucuma a big part of the taste but they are what add body and consistency to the candy and make it pliable, workable. If I can think of anything I promise to let you know~
