It came with the same freebies as the new one (several books, 2 dvds, 4 cutting boards, 2 spatulas) as well as an extra year on the warranty (8-year warranty) just like the new one. I figured I might as well save myself the $70.00. I actually have the Jack Lalanne Healthmaster too, and I'm anxious to put them to the side-by-side test. I will take the Healthmaster to my daughter's for when I'm visiting. I also have the Magic Bullet, which I've taken on trips. It's great on cruises - they usually have a great selection of fresh fruit and vegetables to whip into smoothies.
You will find with the Healthmaster versus the Vitamix that the Healthmaster just cannot pulverize celery the way Vitamix probably does.
After so many testimonials and a lot of thought, when I upgrade my old Jack LaLanne healthmaster blender, I will be buying the Vitamix instead of the Blendtec. I liked the idea of a square container, versus round that food is harder to get out of.
Costco has the Vitamix blenders on sale at times with good demonstrations at the same time. I really want something i can put in whole carrots, celery and other "tough" veggies and make some great drinkable juices out of it. The way I do it now, I juice the tougher veggies in the juicer, pour it in the blender, then blend with other things like lettuce, berries, etc. It would be nice to just do it all in one.

Default Get a VitaMix!

Sorry I forgot to give you an update. I received my VitaMix a few months back and I absolutely love it....use it everyday. I did do a few "side-by-side" tests between the VitaMix and the Healthmaster, and, of course, the VitaMix wins every time! (in smoothness of smoothies). But, I was not displeased with my Healthmaster and since it's still working, I'm taking it to my daughter's so I can have smoothies when I'm visiting her. But I am glad I made the decision to splurge on the VitaMix. Yes, I'm sorry that I didn't get the VitaMix in the first place, but, if I had, then I wouldn't have the Healthmaster to take to my daughter's! See - everything happens for a reason! I just wish I had gotten the VitaMix years ago, as I am 61 and it will probably outlive me!!! One thing to keep in mind for both the VitaMix and the Healthmaster (as well as any other blenders)....wash and dry it thoroughly right away. I then lay the pitcher on it's side for a few hours so absolutely no water can get into either the top or the bottom of the blade mechanism. Maybe that's why my Healthmaster has lasted so long for me.

Thanks Thomas,

Sorry to bug you, but I'm looking at the Vita Prep Pro 3 hp one. I currently have the 5000 and it overheats once or twice a month because I wail on it!

I want the best one for the $$$ that must have a tamper. I always watch those YouTube vids where the Blendtec users have to shut it off to stir up their goods.

What's your recommendation?

Can I buy something through you and support you in some way?

Thanks,

Mary Kay

Default My Review the HealthMaster

Don’t waste your money. Words cannot express my dissatisfaction with the equipment I purchased and I am even more disappointed with the customer services provided. I purchased the Blender in August of 2009. I receive it about a week later. January 2010 the motor stopped working. While bending vegetables the motor started smoking and I immediately turned the unit off and unplugged it and emptied the contents. Waited several hours and tried to use the unit again it would not work. I used my unit a total of 15 times since I received it in August. I paid extra for all the bells and whistles only to be disappointed after using it a few times. Talking to Customer services was very frustrating and my only option is to return it at my expense and send 30 dollars with the broken unit so that a new unit can be sent back to me. If I had it to do all over I would buy a very good commercial grade blender from a store that would honor my return with no cost. I trusted Montel and this product and I was let down. I rarely buy thing off TV or the Net but my faith in Montel proved to be the wrong decision.

Thanks

Default Montel Williams Health Master

I purchased one in September 2009, which I used twice per day at the end of September it caught fire, the safety switch did not trip out it never worked since. (It was being used for blending oatmeal, fruits and yogurt). I returned it and their customer service was extreamly poor. I purchased another from QVC in mid October and I have experienced the same faith. In my opinion they are safety hazard, it does not do the job and their customer services is very poor. Sick to your $45.00 dollard blender. Any knows how to reach Montel Williams, so he can be informed that he is endorsing a product that is causing people to get mentally sick?

Default My Name says it all

After watching the infomercial I must say I was impressed by what they claimed the unit can do. I anxiously waited for the delivery and as it was just before christmas I was very excited about opening the box. Set up and ease of use was great. I did some internet searching and found a few notes on quality of the bearing on the bottom of the health master container. Still so far so good. I am now at day 28 and am happy to know they have a 60 day moneyback gyuarantee that I am going to be exerscising. When making my smoothie this am I had an odd noise followed by a discharge of Brown Lubricant from the bearing letting go. So much for that. Time to pack it up, ship it back and accept my loss of Shipping and handling. Lets see how well they stand behind the refund policy! So many good reviews on other machines. Dissapointing that this one failed in less than 30 days.

Since buying my Blendtec in November, I have used it every single day, sometimes two or three times a day, and I've gotten to the point that I don't know what I would do without it now.

I would recommend either Blendtec or VitaMix. Don't settle for anything less. It will become your next best friend.

I've watched that Healthmaster infomercial a million times. I debated and debated and almost bought it. I really needed a good blender for my journey and just didn't have the money to put towards a Vita Mix. I found way to many negative reports on the Healthmaster. Many folks loved it, but it burned out so fast and the customer service appeared to be consistently awful. I found one person, on a non-food forum that told me she loved hers and that it had been over a year and it was still holding up. However, she didn't use it as many times a day as I knew I would be.

Then there were the Ninja infomercials that pulled me in. I found out that they sold them in Target and considered buying one from them so that returning (if need be) wouldn't be a hassle. THANKFULLY the opportunity was presented to me that allowed me to purchase a Vita Mix. I can't tell anyone NOT to buy either of them (the Healthmaster or Ninja), because quite honestly if you're feeling an urgent need to change your life right now and don't have the money for the Vita Mix then you have to do what you have to do...but I will say this. I was fortunate enough to come by a Back to basics smoothie plus 600 blender via Freecycycle. It has a tamper like the Vita Mix and everything. It performed really well, and as I understand it can be found at Walmart and Target for $20 or so. It did a good job of making my marinara sauce for my zuchinni so I was pleased!

I'd rather use the VitaMix or a BlendTec and not the HealthMaster (which doesn't sound very reliable to me).

Default I have a Health Master too

For what it's worth, I love my Health Master. Maybe it's not quite as cool as the VM but there's no way I could ever afford the VM. As long as my kids will still drink my green smoothies, it doesn't matter to me which one I have. I like to think it's more about being healthy. I also got mine for only $150 which to me, is a great price and it was worth the risk.

Default Health Master (alias Rust Bucket)

Hi,

The Health Master after 45 days started rusting out on the bottom of the pitcher. Of course they offered to replace it, but I figured if it did it again, then where would I be. They weren't going to extend the warranty.

I now have a Vita Mix..yes, bit the bullet to pay the price.

I'd highly suggest to everyone to not bother with the Health Master, but to save their money for the Vita Mix. Plus the Helath Master with extremely loud. I had to wear earplugs when I used it!

The Health Master comes with some recipes, but they don't tell you the proportions of foods/liquid to use.

All that being said, I have never felt healthier since the investment I have made in this product, the Vitamix.

Kudos, Mathew! I have a Vita Mix. Have had it for years, but two years ago it suddenly quit working. It sits in a cabinet. Vita Mix would charge me MORE to send it to some independent repair shop to get it worked on, than it costs me to buy a brand new Montel Health Master. Plus, the Vita Mix people are consistently on the verge of being really rude ever since I made my initial purchase.....and I bought the top-of-the line with two extra canisters, one dry, and an extra wet for my compost. I LOVED my Vita Mix, but the company does not invite any further business with them. Wish I could find someone locally to fix the thing. And I did not abuse it either. I always treated it with the utmost care. No reason for it to just quit. And since it is beyond their 7 year warranty I am out of luck. Montel has a lifetime warranty. I am going now to look at Amazon and see what problem those guys had with Montel's. I bet I could get one that lasts and works just fine.

Uni, sorry to hear about your Vitamix. Did you buy the Vitamix just 2 years ago? It comes with a 7 years warranty if it was the VM 5000 or the 5200 model. Please call me at 801-623-3225 and discribe the problem. Maybe I can help. Also, how is your Health Master Blender now working out for you? Unfortunately, lots of people have bad experiences...

see review on www.3blenders.com. Yes, I am a Vitamix dealer.

Best wishes

Thomas
