I don't know how you get your kids to eat all that? Are they naturally egar to eat raw. I don't think my son would even try half of that. It looks soo good but my son loves very few raw things
Same here. My kids won't eat anything raw that is prepared as a dish, I do good enough to get them to snack on just raw fruits throughout the day. And we've been a vegan family their entire lives!
They will even tell my Mom when she comes home (Nana lives with us) that they are hungry and all they had all day was FRUIT and it's the way they say it to her they make it sound like I starved them! We tried a whole 2 weeks of nothing but fruit/veggies all day until dinner and they did! She came home from work and they hounded her with "NANA! We're HUNGRY!!! All we've had all day is FRUIT!!!!" with sad puppy faces included!
So yeah, when I try the raw on them,my kids think I'm mean/cruel and starving them.
And yes. When we did that 2 week trial, they had PLENTY to eat, they ate on it all day, and STILL told her they were hungry/starving and all they had was OMG fruits and veggies OMG.
Also, EPPP, that stuff looks great but I know if I made some of it and serve dit as "dinner" to my kids, as soon as they were done, they'd wait about an hour and then start whining that they are hungry and would ask me "What's for dinner???" and if I told them that the healthful stuff they just ate was their dinner, my oldest would argue that is surely was NOT dinner, just a healthy snack.
I totally agree with the above poster... My boys (5,3, 19m.) would be so hungry shortly after that. Is there a transitional period of time from vegetarian to raw or (like us... ) SAD to raw where the raw just doesn't fill you up, then all of the sudden less is more?
I wonder sometimes if my kids will ever transition more to raw...
1c. brazil Nuts
1c. Pecans
4 lg Bananas
1/2c. Almond milk
1 date, pitted, soft or softened
1/4t. Cinnamon
1/4t. Nutmeg
1/2t. Salt
Wizz all in FP till very smooth. Pour onto Teflex sheets into rounds of 1/4-3/8". Allow to dehydrate 9hrs/115 degrees, overnight works well. Flp onto screen continue to dehydrate 2-3 hrs.
I added blueberries and used a large round cookie cutter to make shapes.
I just make these before bed and flip them very early in the a.m. these are best eaten fresh. I personally love them sprinkled with chopped pecans as they give a great texture compliment to the soft pancake. This batter lasts at least a week in the coldest part of the fridge.

Hmmm, let me think . . . the first go were a bit too thin and did three of the trays you see (I have the four tray) with enough batter to make five more plus a bowl for my son as a porrage. So lets say aprox 15-20!
My DD ate the entire tray you see in the photo this morning for breakfast!
I loved that they were not too banana tasting. Also perhaps reserving some that is not so well blended is a good idea for those who like it a bit nutty!
This was breakfast for my son this morning along with his green smoothie! My daughter is modeling it as she wanted her picture taken!

EPPP, do you use an icecream maker for your vice cream? Which brand did you buy. I've the "Vice cream" book, now I need a good, dependable ice cream maker.

Does anyone own a Kitchen aid Ice cream maker?
Yes, I use the Cuisinart "bowl in freezer" sort. Not expensive at all a no brainer maker. I know Williams Sonoma have it for about $50 but I am sure you can get it elsewhere for cheaper; perhaps Target.
I posted the recipe from the book Vice Cream because I altered it to my taste.
EPPP.... will you be my mommy? :) ha ha You do such a great job. I haven't started any of this.. the dehydration things seems overwhelming and LOONNNGGG... I suppose you get used to it though huh?
