    Default Water Fast Question?

I'm starting on raw this week. Someone suggested I do a water fast for a few days first. I realize that it's good for cleansing the body but if you lose weight on it, don't you gain it all back once you start eating, even if it's 100% raw?

    Hiya there!

Water fast is very intense. To start off raw, you don't have to do a "fasting" per se. Fasting is concentrated form of detoxifying and cleansing thru abstaining from food and shutting down the digestive system so the body can revert all it's attention to healing etc.

Raw foods do the same just not at the accelerated rate but then again, depending on your body, it may be better for you to start with raw food eating and see how you respond. What do you feel is right for you?

There are fasting sites that discourage fasting unless you are in stable health to handle the detox effects. My own personal experience, I attempted a juice fast (tolerable b/c of vitamins and minerals) and I could not even handle the detox it was so intense my naturpath urged me to stop. Toxins are being released at a higher rate!

As far as the weightloss, underweight tend to put weight on. The first 2 days is good for the body to play catch up but by the fifth day is when the body is 80% toxins. According to a number of fsting sites, 20-21 days for cellular level healing..........anyway, depending on you eating habits and exercise routine, i'd imagine the weight may stay off but then again depending on each person. Keep in mind that when you come off a fast, toxins are still floating and a diet rich in fruit and veggies will surely help rid them out your body.

what were you're eating habits like before raw?

The main reason I'm even considering doing it is my addiction to cheese. I've been taking coconut oil (3 T. each day) for a couple of weeks and I've lost my sweet cravings. But I am still addicted to cheese and Pepsi. My diet - not so good!

Wow, congrats on losing the sweet cravings that is AWESOME !!!!!!!!!

This is only my personal opinion b/c I have done a 30+ day fast and went thru the raw transtions, I believe fasting is good when the body has had a chance to be introduced to more live foods, build on that with improving the digestive and bowel systems--strengthen and THEN do a concentrated cleanse. That seems to be what I have been running into more and more on fasting sites.

I believe going from one extreme to the other does hinder the digestive system and fire so how 'bout a a partial fast? Eat up until lunch and fast during dinner. Then fasting dinner and the next day's breakfast period.

    Juice fast?

By all means, it is entirely up to you. I just kinda spit stuff out so that you can ultimately make the decision.
