Default MC question, maple syrup not raw

    Hi,

I'm sorry if this question has been answered in othe threads, I did a quick search and didn't find anything:

For those of you who do the MC, do you use maple syrup or substitute it with something else bc from what I understand, maple syrup is not raw when you buy it in the store?

    thanks.

You are right, maple syrup is cooked. Agave is raw. Many people do the MC with agave with great results.

I've used grade b blackstrap molasses unsulphured--then b.c none of them are technically raw, I just omit the sweetner.

    :)

Thank you for the suggestions. So the point is just to have a sugar in there, right?

    Hi,
I have found a lot of really useful info about the MC on this site
    http://www.therawfoodsite.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi
Maple Syrup is cooked, as a matter of fact it has to be by its very nature because it takes a really large quantity of maple sap to boil down and concentrate into what we know as Maple syrup.
The reason Burrows (inventor of the the cleanse) stresses the importance of the organic grade b maple syrup is because not only does it give you necessary energy in the sugars to function during the cleanse, it also contains many vital minerals and nutrients which make the Master Cleanse a cleanse not a fast because your body will continue to have nutrients and carbs for energy and functioning while also getting a rest from digesting solid foods.

I just finished a 10 day Master Cleanse (by the book) and feel fabulous. I've been living a raw food lifestyle for nearly 1 & 3/4 years now, and I have found that organic grade b maple syrup used in the context of a Master Cleanse works well for me.
