Default Srouting Garbanzo beans (chick peas)

    Hello everyone,
This is the second time I've tried to sprout these little buggers...and I think I'm doing something wrong.
They keep smelling "sweet" or "soury"...
The last batch sprouted (just little white shoots) but they didn't smell like I thought they would, so I threw them out.

Any ideas or suggestions are appreciated!

    Thanks,

cooper, maybe you're not doing anything wrong. Personally, I don't find the taste of sprouted garbanzos all that appealing.

What are you after them for, hummus, or something else? You might be better to use other ingredients to simulate a cooked chick pea taste.

    Default Thank you

    Thanks Bonnie and Exurb....

I was going to try Alissa's recipe for hummus...I realized now that I was only rinsing them about every 14 hours; maybe that's the "smelly" part. Have either of you tried to make her hummus? Or anything else with the chick peas? I mainly wanted to make sure I wasn't going to eat anything "sour"...

    Thanks again,[/I]

Cooper, try this or also you could use the banana to search for hummus, there have been a few threads on it.
