    Question A raw diet

Hey everyone, i am new to this and i really want to learn more about it.
I have read some of the testimonies and i am thinking of going 100% raw but i wonder if there is some kind of diet i can start out with... i want to do this because i want to be healthier and loose some weight. Over the last 2 or so years i have been trying to find a diet that would help me achieve this goals but none of the ones i have tried really helped much. I weight 220 and im 5.9 tall. happy new year :)

If you want to try working your way up to raw, you could try cutting all meat from your diet. Then after a while, cut out all other animal products. I know things like cheese/milk can be especially hard to give up, but it's worth it.

You could also increase your fruit/veggie intake. Make green smoothies, swap out regular greasy potato chips for the health food kind, etc.

There are lots of little things that can be done that make a big difference.

    Welcome, Roby,

I strongly suggest you get Alissa's book and follow her program. The book is written in her style: friendly, warm, open, and simple to understand. She gives you a 4 week plan to follow when beginning after she tells you exactly what to buy. Couldn't be easier! If you would like, you can also get her DVD and watch her prepare dishes and explain everything "in person." I think it's the best way -- and, after being all raw for that month and experiencing the incredible benefits, it ends up simply being your way of life rather than a struggle when trying to do it without a plan. (At least that was my experience -- as well as many others I know -- and I've been all raw for a year now.)

Best of luck. If you decide to take this journey, magic can happen!

Roby: Alissas book has a 14 day plan. A shopping list to start you off. Then Alissa explains everything so logically and gives examples of some people's experiences. Wow, I just read it the second time and it's even plainer. Her recipes are good and simple. You'll enjoy the book for sure.

    Roby,

Congratulations on finding the raw food site. I too wanted to go raw for the longest time. Alissa's book is awsome for sure, but the DVD is what made it happen for me. As soon as I watched them--yes I did both back to back--I saw how easy it was and started immediately. I'm not yet two months and still working through the recipes and having a blast and feeling better.

Good luck and a warm welcome.

    Smile coconut oil

Try adding 1-2 tablespoons of virgin raw coconut oil per day to your diet. Since I have been taking it, I have lost any cravings for meat or junk food or fats. I just know when I need fats and then I eat avocadoes or coconut oil.

I feel happier, and more energetic. My vegan doctor recommended it in one of his lectures that I attend weekly.
