Why, can't I enjoy fruits anymore?
I can't seem to enjoy fruits anymore, I've been dealing with this for more then a year now!! The only way I can enjoy them is if I blend them with
1 1/2 cups of water. The only fruits I can enjoy naturally is melons!! Has anyone else had this problem too? Would anyone know what my problem would be? I have to keep my exercises even low or else I won't be able to stay away from bad foods!! I hope I can find out what my problem is or I wouldn't be able to stay a rawfoodest! I want to stay a rawfoodest & get back to my 100% raw diet too!! I planed on raising my children on this, but how would I if I can't even stay raw?
Can anyone help me? I'm getting scared!! Thanks in advance, have a great & Happy New Year!!

Maybe your body does not need the sugar in fruit right now. This week I have found myself eating Bramely Apples which are meant for cooking instead of eating the apples that are meant for eating.
Lots of raw people do not eat any fruit. Why not just enjoy all the other things available.

Really good thread. I seem to have lost my sweet tooth after starting on raw food, which is a huge bonus since I gained my weight (20 lbs.+) eating all the homemade Sicilian desserts, etc. I usually started my day off with fruit and still do citrus quite often, but the cravings for sweeter fruit just is not there.
Alissa spells out some info on the food pyramid in her DVD that I found most helpful with the three segments of the raw dietl. I gravitate from heavy nut-laden dishes to salads to light fruit. It is so natural already I can't believe it.

See the reason why I have to stick to lots of fruits is because too much fats make me gain weight and make me tired & make me feel nasty inside if I eat it everyday!! I have a problem digesting lots of fats greens. The fruits keep me clean, give me the brain power I need & makes me feel great. See I have epilepsy and if I don't have enough fruit then I have brain problems, see the fruits help my brain work better & faster!!

what do you mean by fruit is a problem??? what kind of reaction?
you say adding water to fruits other than melon is how you can consume them--that is interesting b/c melons are almost al water content so mayber there is a connection between the melons and adding water to the other fruits.
would it be correct to say that you do not digest well???
maybe you don't have a healthy gut like most of us with chronic conditions. I didn't realize i was suffering an autoimmune problem until after almost a year...the only obvious symptoms I had were stomach problems--i got to the point that fruits bothered me !!!
Finally started taking care of my gut lining and now I am consuming my favorite apples by the whole.......for along time, juices were the only thing I could drink....it was frustrating.

Thanks, but I don't think that's it Misslinda. Because I was doing great the first whole year as a rawfoodest eating all the fruits I wanted. I ate like 15 - 20 bananas a day and loved every bite of them, actually I got real slinder too! When I ate that way I got the smallest I have ever been and built muscle too! I loved the way I looked & feeled!! I never have problem digesting fruits, actually if I don't eat enough of them then I get constipated because of all the other stuff I eat. If I eat enough of them daily then I digest good!! Like I said I don't feel clean without them!! Thanks for your ideas! Have a great New Year!

I guess i've misunderstood what you meant by can't enjoy them.....having to water them down? is this more a emoitonal/psychological issue ?

It simply sounds like you're evolving in your raw food diet -- as you should be. If you're doing it "right", you will not be eating the same way after one year that you were when you started! The thing that jumps out at me is the lack of greens in your diet. I know the natural hygiene people and Doug Graham's advocates wouldn't find 15-20 bananas a day unusual, but obviously it's not what your body needs anymore. If you were coming to me for consultation, the first thing I'd do is have you start drinking green smoothies with a vengeance. One to two heads of romaine (or the equivalent of a variety of deep green leafy stuff is actually better) is your goal -- blended. There've been so many threads here about Victoria Boutenko's green smoothies that I'm sure you've seen them. I'm really confused why you would write "fats greens" together. There is no way that you will possibly gain weight on greens!!!
Why don't you give this a try for a week and see what happens. To reiterate, though, if you're not wanting fruit, your body isn't needing it!!! Don't force yourself.

The reason why I was saying too much fats & greens make me gain weigh is because when I have too much of those together then I have a problem digesting them! Now if I eat alot of fruit & greens I don't have a problem digesting them!! Only when I have any fats, alot of greens and not much fruits. The problem I have is that I can't get melons in my area right now! I won't be able to have them until the're in season again. which won't be until this summer. So until then I'm having to make banana smoothies. Don't get me wrong I do have a good sized salad everyday!! I'm just talking about my fruits because that what I have problems eating right now! It feels like a chore to eat them!! I feel like most of the time I have to make myself eat the fruits!! I sure hope this changes because the other fruits don't feel me up and I don't like eating lots of vegetables because I still like having a little salt with them and if I eat alot more vegetables then I'm taking in more salt which isn't good for me! That also causes me to bloat (water weight) because salt holds water!! Anyways the fruits for some reason just tastes too sweet to me and that's why I can't enjoy them unless I water them down!!

How about eating non-sweet fruits like cucumbers, tomatoes, etc.? They're still fruit although we tend to place them in the veggie category. Also, how about the sweet-tart fruits like kiwi, green grapes (though sometimes they can be really sweet depending), strawberries, granny smith apples

[Oh, if you feel greens need oil for you to eat them, then blended without the oil does sound better, imo anyway. There are many dressings on Dougs site without oil btw.[/QUOTE]

I also do not enjoy fruits, I don't know why, but I almost have to force myself to eat them. I just have no desire to eat them and it makes it hard for me to stay on this diet.
I do like watermelons..

Thanks everyone for your help! Maybe I can find some fruits that Rawkinlocs was telling me about! Like the green grapes. I know I can't enjoy the cucumbers because here they taste just like water-no flavore to them at all! The tomatoes are out of season now and they taste bad too! I don't know about the apples because I've never been a apple fan! I've always liked bananas, melons, mangoes,nectarines & peaches. Here where I live the only fruits that are O.K. to buy is the bananas & sometimes I can find some good oranges, but oranges like I said aren't my favorite kind of fruit to eat! Now I do love orange juice though!! Is what is also funny now I can't enjoy my carrots as much because they taste too sweet to me too! So I'm trying to also find some vegetables to eat with my greens that don't taste too sweet!!
If there's anyway I could order melons and I could afford it, I would love it!! Eatting those I see happy & getting back into a raw & fit diet again!! Another thing is when I can't get enough fruits then I really have to watch how I exercise or else I'll get starving too much and will eat something I souldn't like a piece of homemade organic whole wheat bread or too many raw nuts which will put inches on me!!
