Talking Really Proud Of My Son !

On Thanksgiving I sent every scrap of SAD food home with relatives. My teenager was very annoyed I did not save him anything ! So, yesterday we hosted the holiday meal for family and I saved enough SAD food for my teenager to have some leftovers. Last night we were all hungry and I offered to heat him a plate of the leftover SAD food and he responded with " No thanks i'll have a smoothie " I almost fell off my chair but happily got up and made him a smoothie !

I guess he was listening to some of what I was telling him after all ! I am also so glad held my ground and stuck to what I felt was right !

oh, it's the end of the day today and the SAD food leftovers are still sitting in the fridge untouched !

Default You are my hero "Root"

I have been "raw" for 5 1/2 months now. My 5 (yes I said 5!) children are becoming more and more interested but have not jumped on board yet! But that may be because I do not have the guts to trash the SAD food for fear of mutiny! Especially from the pirate (my husband) who is eating chips and a sandwich as I type this!!!! Any suggestions? H E L P!!

    Hi Diantha,

My children not 100% raw food eaters. 2 are commited vegetarians, my oldest is on the fence. So if yours are meat eaters I would start right there and remove the meat. Depending on how old your children are I highly recommend the PETA sight for the quick little film called 10 reasons to not eat meat ( it may be 10 reasons to be a vegetarian ). It can be disturbing so you watch it first and determine if it's something you want to show your older kids.

I had total mutiny for a few days ! I just stood mu ground and waited for it to blow over. I gutted our kitchen and then took them to out local health food market that has a nice selection of organic cereals, organic cookies ( get them some Liz Lovely cookies if you can find them , they are organic Vegan cookies) and crackers, organic milks and cheeses, eden organic pasta, garden of eaten chips etc.. and we started there. They refused to eat some of the "healthy stuff" at first and once I realized they were not going to die if they missed a meal it was so less stressfull ! I filled the fridge & cabinets with fruits and veggies, nuts and always have cookies in the dehydrator, I make a Avacado chocolate mousse and they don't know it's not SAD chocolate pudding. Let them sample things, it turns out my 5 yr old loves raw pumpkin seeds !

I still cook for them as usual but incorporate as much raw food as possible, but even though they are eating cooked food it's green and organic ,bottom line we are so much better then where we were 6 months ago ! For example tonight they had Eden organic veggie strip pasta with with organic butter and freshly grated cheese tossed with barely steamed broccoli ,carrots and green peas.(my middle child picked out the broccoli and carrots) they are bugging me as I type to get off the computer and make them " pudding "

It all took some adjusting but my kids have adjusted and yours will too. They are very picky eaters, one will only eat bananas and apples and all veggies, one will eat just peas and only fruit in smoothies ! My oldest is good and eats almost everything ! I'm hoping I can get them to eat more and more raw foods.

Final Note: my kids do take multi vitamins PLUS a C with Iron, DHA and Sun chlorella

Your doing a great thing for yourself and your family so stay strong and do what you think is best for them.

I am like MBF. I started off my kids gradually. They are still not "raw" (after 1.5 years), however, they eat a very high raw diet.

Keep including a lot of choices for raw food, keep explaining, and they will eventually choose a high raw diet. It is not always easy!

    Blessings.
