Default Raw Food Consultation Today !

I am so excited ! I found a place called Living Raw in Nyack NY (about an hour from my home) I have a consultation today ! and we will also be going over some new recipes. Since I am not a complete raw newbie and she doesn't have to convince me of anything i'm hoping she won't have to spend time with the why and hows of Raw, and all the usual new to raw questions. I hope I can come home with some new food ideas. I told her my big problem is I don't have a meal to make . It's always salad, or chutney, smoothies etc. I need some meal ideas. (I can't do the nut recipes, to heavy for me and my husband).

Wish me luck ! I'll fill you in later !

mbf - Have you tried using hulled sunflower seeds instead of nuts? I like nuts but find that sometimes they are just too heavy too. I soak them over night and let them drain a few hours then put into food processor with garlic, veges, any flavorings you like and use the pate on cucumbers or flax seed crackers, or stuffed into a hollowed-out tomatoe with black olives. Yum!
Enjoy your class and good luck to you with finding recipes to use. I know when I went raw before and ate primarily salads it was tough. Good luck.

It went well ! I learned quite a bit and got lots of new recipes. I found out I am not getting enough protein and she gave me daily menu ideas to ensure that I will get more protein.
I knew more then her average client so I got to ask a lot of questions and talk about struggles I was having. I'm really glad I went, I am really at ease with how i'm eating ! It was so nice to meet another Raw foodist, it was great to just talk about raw food and not have to explain why to someone.

I'm going to go back in a few weeks and we are going to do some uncooking !

Nini - Alissa's sunflower pate is really easy and good, too.

mbf - I'm curious what changes she suggested to you as far as protein goes. Would you mind sharing?

Yes, of course and I would love some feed back from you. I have 2 calls into her asking about these items but she has not called back yet.

She suggested I add Lecithin granules to my buckwheat shake in the mornings. What is lecithin made out of ? Is it soy ? If so do I want to take that and why ?

For added protein, She wants me to add Hemp protein or ground golden flax to as many things as possible, 2-3 tablespoons but ... I don't know if it's per day or per meal ?

I have also started on Sun Chlorella A, it's dietary tablet form of cell wall chlorella per her recommendation.

I am taking a detox and cleanse supplement to increase my bowel movements, one is called Triphala other is Aloe-VF. I am to take 1 of each 2xs a day for 3 days then call her with results but I have not heard back from her, they were working but I have sropped taking them until I speak with her.

Finally, she wants me to cut back on my banana and carrot intake. I use alot of bananas and juice a lot of carrots. She gave me some new dressing recipes to help my salad boredom as well as some sea veggie recipes.

Thanks for any explanation of what i'm taking in here.

All I can tell you is that I know hemp is high in protein. I guess flax is? I haven't tried hemp yet, because I haven't seen it...but I use ground flax everyday. I know it is high in oils, but protein, I guess so, somebody else knows more I'm sure. I am not much of a "supplement" person....I think we can take to much "stuff"....listen to your body. Best of luck, and let us know how it goes.

Thanks for the link Doe. I have read that before and it's great. That is one of my concerns is that I will getting too much protein now !

I only juice greens 1x a day and have totally backed off salads because I am just sick of them. It's very cold here in NY right now and I only enjoy salads in hot weather So the rest of my day is smoothies, carrot juice maybe a buckwheat shake, some soaked dehydrated almonds and of course some coconut caramel cookies....so not getting much greens or other source of protein from food at this time.

I will say I have more energy since adding the hemp & flax meal to my shakes and smoothies.

Anyone know about the Lecithin or Chlorella ?

Chlorella is a freshwater blue-green algae.

Lecithin is a phospholipid that is found in cell membranes and is what keeps them flexible. It is found in every cell in the body and is particularly important for neurological health. Lecithin granules that you would use to supplement your diet contain lecithin that has been isolated from either eggs or soybeans (soy lecithin). So, you can find lecithin that is not soy-derived, but it is not vegan.

    Hope that helps.
