    Default Unripe Pear

Eek! I just bit into a pear that's not ripe enough to eat yet. Is there any way to save my (expensive organic) pear until it does get ripe enough? Or will I have to just toss it out?

well. hmmm?? don't know for sure, but put it in a brown paper bag to ripen quickly. Then cut off the part you have bitten into? maybe?

Maybe squeeze a little lemon juice on the bitten part to help keep it from decaying quickly? Then put in the bag?

    Peace, Valerie

Sometimes if I open fruit that is not ripe I will let it sit out for a few more days and it will ripen but I think it depends on the fruit. I know this works with star fruit and some other tropical kinds but not sure if it would work with a pear. Best thing would probably be to leave it out depending on how much you bit into. If it's not terribly underripe you could try using it in a smoothie or recipe or something but not if it's really bitter.

Yes just put it in a paper bag with some other fruit, like a ripening banana and it should be okay.
