    Default Not loosing weight

    Why am I not loosing weight on raw?


    I was grossly obese and lost 50 pounds so far and now for the past two Months I hve lost nothing and I need to loose more!

    I have been 100 percent raw for 8 Months now.

    I do eat nuts and seeds. I eat alot of fruit. I eat about half a pound of greens a day. I eat dried foods, also.

    I exercise everyday, something I did NOT do when I lost the 50 pounds. I lift weights 4 times a week and walk/bicycle 7 days a week.

    I drink my water.

    So......... What is wrong here? This doesn't make any sense to me at all.

    Hi Pattye,

    Good question, and I have some good answers for you.

    First, you are exercising and that will add muscle which weighs more than fat, and you may be losing fat and gaining muscle, so you could even gain weight, while losing fat and inches. So, just know that the scale may not say something but the way your clothes fit will let you know what is happening.

    Second, your body knows what it needs to do. If you are in desperate need of healing in another area of the body, your new found cleansing energy will work on that instead of working on releasing the fat, just know that eating raw is much more than a way to lose weight, and allow your body to do it's work in that arena. I know it can be frustrating, but if you look at it as your body is cleansing other areas, you will actually be happy when you don't lose weight.

    Third, your body may be waiting for you to level off, it may be slightly shocked if you aren't eating enough foods to fuel your body, it may be in a starvation mode, where your metabolism slows down, so the best way to lose weight is to eat more, I know it's hard to believe, but it does work.

    So, relax, sit back, and allow your body to cleanse, add muscle, and re-align it's metabolism, you will continue on your weight lose and one day you will be giving this advice to someone else, and you'll be saying,"Well, this happened to me too."

    Hello rawpriestess!

    What you said about exercise is true because now that I think about it my clothes DO feel like they may be getting looser. Hum that is amazing how the body works, isn't it?

    I have been eating alot of foods to the point somettimes where I feel almost stuffed. So i know that i am getting enough food because i am never really hungry anymore like i used to be on SAD where I was always eating it seemed.

    I am finally relaxed about this now. Your post gave me alot of hope. Thank you.

    Later, down the line, when someone else has this problem and I help THEM, I will think of YOU!

    Talking You took the words right out of my mouth.

    You know I was wondering why after 47 days being raw my scales were not showing any changes. I don't get on the scales like I use too but when I was around 30 days raw I got on and saw no change in weight.
    I was a liitle concerned but I figured it might be due to the amount of exercise I was doing which was not enough as I get tired easily. Now I know that maybe my body is working on other things beside my weight. I am learning to not think that anything will happen overnight. As my husband says you didn't put the weight on overnight and don't expect it to come off overnight.
    My clothes seem to be fixing better so I am happy with that.

    OK, what have you CHANGED since you've lost weight?

    I know it's thoroughly not fair to be doing so much now that you didn't do before you lost weight, and to have stopped losing weight, it's not fair.
    BUT, when you lost weight the first time, you shook things up, and your body adapted. You need to do that again. You need to eat adapt your food intake, to accomadate a body that is 50 pounds lighter, you need to exercise harder and longer to strengthen a heart and body that is now used to your current exercise routine. You can't just stick to the same routine and expect the same results. You lose weight and get stronger by challenging yourself.

    Thats my two pence piece, and I apologise if you already have been doing the above,

    Default my two cents

    I have a friend who was raw 6 months and only lost 12lbs. She was horribly obese and needed to lose about 200lbs total. When she eliminated her carrot juices and dried fruits and greatly increased her veggie consumption, things improved and she lost 75lbs so far. Turns out she had insulin resistance. Not to mentions a myriad of other ailments. At present, she cannot handle fruits and carrot juices. Later, as her body heals I think she will see an increase in her ability to handle these foods - raw of course.
