Thread: fasting results

    Question fasting results

    Has anyone out there fasted to gain weight? if so, how did it go? did you gain the weight back and then some? i have read a few articles about that, that you are supposed to gain the weight back because it slows your metabolism and lets you absorb more nutrients on less food. i would like to try it, but wondering if it really works. any input is greatly appreciated! any books to recommend?

    Hi Rachel,

    This is simply my experience, and I'm afraid I don't have any sources on this, but I found that fasting equalized my weight a bit.

    Last year I did 20+ days on water and juice (10 juice, 5 water, a week on juice). My beginning weight was around 115, which had dropped significantly by the end of the fast. I ate totally raw for some time after that, and the weight came back, minus one or two pounds. The thing was, I seemed to have more muscle mass and less fat. So I assume the fasting/raw diet re-balanced my system.

    As for trying to gain weight to counter illness or disease in the body--I've heard this can be very effective, but don't have any experience there. I'm currently in the third day of a water fast, so I'll report on any changes soon... :)
