    Need ASAP please!

Hanging out with the SAD bunch for our 30 year old son's birthday this weekend. I think I got Alissa's stuffed mushroom she or someone posted here so consideration for sure. Any other ideas? I don't want to go "nut" crazy either. Less nuts the better I am trying to say, but I always cut them way down too. Simple the better for the SAD folks--enough to tease them, but not to scare them away. I know it's going to be food for hubby and self to definately enjoy unless there are some veggies which I am not sure about. I can smell the kitchen brewing cooked to the max from son's house. I also mean lots of "animal products" coming out of the their pots. Choices, choices, we all make choices! How's that for a song? Thanks.

    Some raw crackers with dip?
small plate of angel hair zucchini with marinara sauce? (I LOVE this recipe!!)
Make your own veggies with dip...
    maybe marinated veggies?

Good luck and happy bday to your son!

    Joke ;)

    Carol,
How about a very elegant salad...i.e. Some endive chopped coarsely, topped with a circular alternating layers of red grapefruit pieces and avocado, topped with a very light honey mustard balsamic vinaigrette. Maybe a sprinkling of pine nuts over top.

If that doesn't appeal, marinate asparagus (cut off the tough bottoms pretty high up) in a lovely olive oil, lemon, salt and pepper mixture. Then plate it with those ubiquitous pine nuts atop.

Or...if you can lay your hands on good tomatoes (I can't at the moment) who can resist a gorgeous tomato basil salad with some good olive oil (emphasis on the good) and a bit of coarse sea salt ground over top.

Aaaah, food. I could go on...But I won't! Good luck and good eating.

Thanks Jay and Melissa. The ASAP is off as I was told tonight that I don't have to bring anything as they are having a "meat" tray at the B/Day. My son said they will also have veggies, so yes, I need to at least bring something for myself/hubby to eat as I will have a long day without eating.

Again, thanks, but maybe a good link to keep going to help others who may have this challenge later on or for the holidays.

I love the zucc. and marinara, but for these folks they want the real stuff and I can't supply them with the starch they desire nor waste my organic veggies for people who won't change. I know that as a fact. Oh well, but thanks for suggestions. Thanks.

they will eat it most likely. I am finding my friends who say ugh to what I am doing eat what I make, lol. I had a football party and they ate up all that I had out. Interesting how plates were empty....
