Beetroot juice? Good combinations?
I got some really good beetroot today. Any good combinations with other fruit/vegetables?
Also, what are the exact benefits of beetroot juice?
Thanks
Esther

someone posted a 7-day juice fast, which I saved, and it had this in it:
"Beet Juice: Please mix the beet juice with apple. Beet juice can be very hard on the system even though it is beneficial for those things listed below. I usually do a ½ beet with 6 carrots and 2 stalks of celery and ½ of a granny smith apple. Works wonderfully for me, and removes a lot of waste. Removes toxins from the liver into the bloodstream. Also specifically helpful for arthritis and menstrual problems."

I like to make a salad where I grate beets and grate carrots and grate ginger, and dress with an apple cider vinegar dressing. It's a good cheap salad for winter too. It's delicious also with grated apples in it, but I leave out the apples now for other reasons.

Red Roxie
My fave juice combo with beet root juice is from the cookbook
"RAW" by Charlie Trotter and Roxanne Klein
page 178
I love this!
Red Roxie:
serves 2
4 fuji or Gala apples, skin on, cored and cut into eighths
2 small red beets, peeled and chopped
1/2 " piece fresh ginger
3 tbsp. freshly squeezed lemon or lime juice
Put the apple, beets and ginger through a heavy-duty juicer, then stir
in the lemon juice.

SmellyDelly what do you mean when you say beets can be hard on the system?
My daily tonic:
4 carrots
4 celery stalks
1 regular sized bowl of mixed greens
1 handful of parsley
1 beet bulb
1 garlic bulb
1/2 fresh lemon
Am I over doing it on the ingredients.

Free, my fave daily juice is very like yours:
a small beet (about 1/2 cup max)
1-2 big carrots
1 head of broccoli or any other greens eg spinach
1-2 apples
a thumb of fresh ginger
2-3 stick of celery
If I had wheatgrass, i'd add some of that, too, as I love it, but am not up-and-running on that yet.
I have heard that drinking pure beet juice makes you 'spacey' -- but I find it wonderful when combined with other veg and a bit of apple and ginger into a glorious red potion -- so refreshing and yum.
