    Default What is a Sultana?

I'm checking out the butternut noodles w/ curry sauce recipe and it calls for Sultanas. What the heck are they? I did a quick google search and nothing food-related came up.

    Here's my guess: small bananas??

    Golden raisins are so gooooooood!!!

I've known them for such a long time, but I always thought Sultana's were the red/dark raisins... we used to get these little boxes from our mom, and in school, during the breaks, we'd eat all those yummy golden raisins

yea Jay, there was a conflict in a couple of areas that I read, anywho they are raisins, one page did describe them as being darker but another referred to as golden.. you are probably so right!!! and I thought we just had dark ones and golden ones - who knew

I think they are golden raisins. I just used regular raisins, since I couldn't find organic golden ones and grapes are highly sprayed (which gets concentrated when it's dried). I made the curry recipe a couple days ago and it was pretty good. Didn't add the celery, but did add a little salt. Oh, I needed to add lots more curry powder as well.

All the golden raisins I've seen have a chemical additive to keep the color. Be sure to check your labels.
