    Cool slow weight

    roman]

    Hello,

Although I have been mostly 100% raw, I am not dropping weight as fast as everyone else seems to be.

Sometimes it feels like my body is so weird. I excercise almost fanatically, but I don't look as good with my body tone or weight as I used to before having my last child years ago.

If you have any comments, I'd appreciate hearing them.

You should let everyone know what you are eating so that we can comment. Maybe what you need is to do the 30 day challange and go totally raw and see what happens or maybe a fast to kick start the weight loss.
If you are doing everything right and still not loosing weight than your body is concentrating on other things.

Hi, I agree it would help to know what foods you are eating as well as timing and combining. (Some people don't worry about food combining at all but my personal opinion that it does matter unless your all green and early on when you have a lot of weight to lose my clients see a difference just from proper combining)

What is your exercise program ?

One thing to take into account is how healthy were you before. For example my mom had heart problems and so her body had other things to work on before the weight started dropping. It could also be emotional issues attached to weight. (Just so you know I have not lost weight as fast as lot of people, but then I never did even when I tried phen/fen)

I have the same issue. I actually gained weight eating raw! I am 187 pounds now, trying to do the 30 day challenge. Alissa says that if you are not losing, then cut back on the nuts and exercise. Okay. I am working on the working out, but if I cut back on the nuts, I don't have the energy to work out. Feels like a catch 22. I am only on day three of 100%, I really hope that it makes a difference. Any suggestions? (My diet is posted in the journal section)

    Boysenberry,

Fear Not! It's only day three for you..and your body is still in a bit of shock from the change of nutrients. You'll see, you'll start to even out and then you can exercise. If you TRULY want to enjoy this transition phase, though, I'd suggest ( since I SO went though this ), that you consider watching your nut intake if it concerns you, but I wouldn't eliminate them totally ( if you're tempted to ). Now is the time to enjoy this time and if nuts are holding you together ( funny.. in the SAD world.. nuts means falling apart.. lol ).. then eat them.

As far as exercise: Just as with eating RAW - just start to move and to breathe. Simplistic? Oh yes. But we like simplistic around here. Find something you enjoy doing _whatever that is_ and do it slowly and build up your tolerance for it. The thing with exercise is that you actually HAVE to do it ( tired or not ) to build up the stamina to keep doing it and to feel and see the benefits of it. Again, same with our eating raw.

I remember when I first started raw a few months ago, I did _not_ have the wear-with-all to do ANY exercise at all for 2 whole weeks. After that was over and I wasn't in bed by 8PM anymore... it was off to the races, so to speak. Exercise helped keep me raw - it sculpted my body so I didn't give up, and it changed my over all outlook on things.

Do not be discouraged, just keep going forward bit by bit and enjoy the ride as much as you possibly can.

I'm headed toward my 25lbs in loss - which doesn't sound a lot, but if you saw how much muscle I put on, then it would make sense how I can fit SEVERAL sizes smaller without having a huge loss in scale poundage. Remember that as you go along, too, with your exercise: your body will not assimilate the nutrition the same way, build muscle the same way, digest the same way, or weight the same way... because.. even if you can't see the difference, your body IS changing. That is why the scale is so relative in it's necessity as a raw person. Some of us, though, AHEM, still have an attatchment to it.

It will help you to keep in mind that when you begin eating 100 percent raw, and your bodies energy and enzymes are free, they will go directly to what your body, in its infinite wisdom considers the top priority.
You cannot know your internal state, but trust that your body does. It may have more important things to attend to then emptying out your fat cells. Trust that will come, and that your body knows what it is doing.

And also keep in mind that almost 100% raw and 100% raw are two very different things. You cannot judge your progress by the experiences of 100 percent raw weightloss, if you are not eating 100 percent raw. Any cooked food will slow down your detox and weightloss.

As pointed out, Alissa states that if you are eating 100 percent raw, and not losing weight, look at your exercise, and you may want to cut down on ( not cut out) nuts and watch your oil intake. Living, unrefined fats such as avacado contain the enzyme lipase, which breaks down fat. You might want to add that to your diet!

Patience....3 days....it will happen. Allow it time and my very best wishes. Please keep us posted!

    Warmly~

Talking Success isn't always what is seems...

    Renee and Sweetgoddess,

Thanks for the advice. I went running twice this week and raked leaves for three hours with my sons! I am 100% raw, no cooked foods. Even when I was tired and hungry and had fed all of my children and just wanted something warm and cooked for comfort, my oldest son said, "no mom, come on, I will make us both a great big salad." And that is just what he did.

Today is my 13th day. I have lost two pounds, hooray! But the biggest blessing is the underlying calm and peace that I carry around. I am sure that is why my son wants me to continue. I also hit day 11 and suddenly abounded in energy, hence the leaf raking.

I will incorporate more avocados. Funny thing happened the other day, my sister (raw too) calls her husband on the phone to pick up a couple of things at the store, he says, "I know more avocados."

    Happy Birthday, Boysenberry!

I have a 13 year old daughter sitting right next to me - well.. 14 in January. I'm so happy you, too, have an older sister who is doing raw!

Eat, breathe, and MOVE. All of the rest will work itself out as you go along!

How's raw going while at school ?

    Smile Burning body fat

    Hi Potatoe!

Here is a good article about loosing overweight. It is what I go by and believe me it works. I used to work out too hard not getting any where, and this article will explain how the body works when loosing weight. Basically, you burn more body fat when walking and doing things for long periods of time, and you burn more energy (sugars) when doing intense cardio for short periods of time. So, you burn more fat when you take long walks, like going window shopping, than you do when you do 30 mins of hard core cardio. The article explains it better than I!

    Hope this helps.

I find this to be true. Through it is, like all things, varied from person to person.

I have a friend who gets & stays lean doing short intense cardio sessions while for me that does not work. I need to long les intense sessions, long fast paced walks etc to get and stay lean.
