    Default Pampered Chef

I have the apple corer, believe called and a gadget that rocks back and forth you holding onto the handle to create ripples in cukes, etc.

Now I wonder about the pricey Chopper they sell. I think we are talking $28 or such, but surely ebay can "rawk" the price perhaps. What kind do you have, model and how many blades. Do you love it????? It worth spending so much for this gadget.

My teeth have always been bad and sometimes even eating soft lettuce is challenging. I know I can blend every meal, but want to chew with the teeth I have left as long as they hold up. I thought I ate healthy till my teeth continued to rebel differently. Teeth are very pricey to get dental care, but a necessity. So wan't my husband born a dentist or better yet, why didn't he foresee how expensive my teeth were and he could have been in dental school and now making lots of bucks for teeth like mine. Too late at his age to try and then only a small amount get accepted per year.

    Hi Carolg,

I used to be PC consultant. I believe the food chopper is by Zyliss and available in most kitchen stores (and safe with a 20% off coupon) and definately on E-bay. The special thing about the PC branded Zyliss is that it splits open to clean, but with fruits and vegetables you are not going to need to deep clean it. You may find a similar model available now, I dont' know if PC has the whole trademark on that one feature nowadays. I actually had both of their food choppers, the old and the new one, and the new one warped in the dishwasher (supposed to be dishwasher safe) so now I use the old one which I love, although a bit noisier.

I also have that crinkle cutter you speak of. I love using it to cut jicama, it ripples them just like ruffle chips for dip. You could also cut large carrots at an angle and get long chips as well.

I loved my pizza cutter but it got lost

I found their veggie peeler very handy as well as the kitchen scissors. And I use the garlic press a lot. I use their cookie scoops for many raw and cooked recipes. We use the apple corer several times a day.

They are always changing their products and discontinuing them, so I'm not sure what is available now.

But there are certain things I found way too fussy and a waste of time to take out and use. I prefer wood cutting boards to polyethelyne, I don't care for their knives, the cheese grater was a waste (I use a microplane now which works wonderfully for grating citrus peel and nutmeg), and I just recently threw out in disgust the 'easy accent decorator' because it couldn't handle piping out anything too thick and the pieces would all pop off.

    Sharon,
Thanks as my PC consultant here. Think it's worth the $28ish which seems very pricey.

I bought an apple corer few years back, used one time, it went rusty just a pinch and wonder if I needed receipt to get another goodie to toss this up to experience.

Today another tooth extracted so getting less and less on one side on the back even eating healthy. So would you think the PC chopper would be worth the investment or just skip it?

OT: Are you going to come down to the Boulder raw group I have going? Sun. 12/19 at 3;30 next gathering in Boulder.

    Take care.

Carol are you on the Colorado raw moms group? That would be so awesome for some of us in the Springs to join you guys in Boulder. Or maybe meet with the Denver group in Denver (I can't remember if that's halfway between us - I'm still getting used to getting around the town I'm in now!)

We are having a gathering this Wednesday. An ice cream/dessert social and we'll be watching the first DVD from Living on Live Food.

I'd definately get that food chopper, if it fits your purpose. It chops a smaller amount of food instead of using the food processor. I saw Alissa use it to get the peel off of a garlic clove.

But you can get it a lot cheaper through another source, unless you want to give a friend credit for a party she's having. Check out Linen's N Things or Bed Bath and Beyond and take your coupon with you. You will get a better deal there.

About the apple corer, I'm surprised that it rusted. Was that the wedger thing or the windy thing (the apple peeler corer slicer)...I could see that one rusting. I think all the items have at least a year warantee. The pain of it is you have to have your receipt and then either send it in that way, or find the consultant, and contact her (or him) for another copy so you can send it back.

    Default mini chopper

    Hey carolg,
Just a thought for you...Walmart sells a" mini chopper" (that is the name) for $5 that is great! It is a small food processor with only one blade and it's electric. I've only seen it during the Xmas season, but my walmart still has some left. I have used it to chop and also to make chunky baby food. I didn't expect it to last, since I only paid $5 for it, but it is still going strong after a year.
I also used to be a PC consultant and I love my food chopper. I use it every day. It went dull pretty quickly, but my husband sharpened it with a knife sharper and that made it good as new. I don't have a dishwasher, but I use sippy cup cleaners (I get them at walmart, they are $1 for two. They are like plastic q -tips with a sponge on the end.) to get into the chopper's crevices.

I have seen those small one cup food processors also.. but for 19.99.. either way it would be great to have... I have the PC chopper and love it but haven't used it alot.. probably will not that I am starting to go raw.... hurts my hand tho.... either that or I just get out too much frustration on it..lol

I love their flat stones...what ever they are called.... broke mine in a move tho this year.. wont need it now since i am going raw.. heavy sigh. ;)

My hubby bought me one of those baby food processors for $5 and it broke the first time I used it.

    So he took it back.

I also have one of those chopper things, thingies, I LOVE mine, The one like Alissa used to chop garlic, it works really great for a little bit of anything.

    nuts especially.
