Best food processor to buy

Hello, I was wondering which would be the best (strong) food processor to buy. Any suggestions?

The best rated one in Consumer Reports is the Kitchen Aid food processor. Coming in 2nd is the Cuisineart. I have the Kitchen Aid and am very happy with it. Both of these units (the 11 cups) run close to $200 on Amazon, but you could probably get a great deal for a new unit through e-bay.

However, watching Alissa's video, I noticed her food processor which has a spout. The spout is used for slicing and shredding, and ejects the food outside of the bowl. A friend of mine has a similar one, and when we made latkas last year she brought it over. That spout was awesome because with all the potatoes we were grating we never had to empty out the work bowl. We just placed a rather large bowl under the spout and it all shot out in there. You could easily use this when making coleslaw - just keep shredding lettuce and never have to empty the work bowl.

The one Alissa has recommended is the Black and Decker Quick n Easy Plus. I bought mine from Wal-Mart for less than 30.00 In her book she mentions that some of the less expensive ones works just as good as the higher priced ones. And I have had no problems with this one. I am saving my money for a better dehydrator and juicer. :)

My Cuisinart has been a real gem. It lasts forever too. Costco is where I found my 11 cup and love Costco's "unconditional return policy" where a receipt is king and gets you the retrun forever. Tip of the day! Curtis, thanks for tip as the Black and Decker may be a good one to travel with.

I'll go to the store and check it out. I like the idea of the black and decker at 30$ since I have a budget of around 75$ to spend.

If you can swing it....buy a GOOD food processor! You'll never regret it! I have both a Cuisinart and a Kitchen Aid...I like my Kitchen Aid better than the Cuisinart...however both are really good. I use mine almost every day for me and my dogs.

I just wanted to add that before I got my Kitchen Aid food processor, we were using a smaller food processor we had gotten as a wedding gift. Although it worked quite well, the work bowl was very small, 5-6 cups maybe. Our 11 cup Kitchen Aid was an investment well-made. When making many of the cracker and other recipes, that require the ingredients to be combined in a food processor, it does a fine job at it, although once in a while I have to do it in 2 batches. I think a 14 cup would be too large for everyday use in our situation.

So do estimate what you'll be using it for. If you are sure you'll be doing smaller portions, the inexpensive $30 one may be just right for you.
