Default Really Good Video for Homemade Coconut Butter

    Hello,

The creator of this video is not vegan nor a raw foodist. But she made a really good video on how to make Homemade Coconut Butter in 90 Seconds.

    Hope this help

Wow - Thank you PeachyLove for sharing this! Sure beats the high price tag on buying coconut butter! And I was so surprised that she said it processed up in under one minute!

Your welcome DebB. And Thank you for all of your helpful post.

I love DIY recipes, they save you money and are fun to do. I think keeping a well stock kitchen with all the basics is the key.

She used the Vitamix dry container.

I am going to try to make this in my magic bullet. But I think I will let it run for 30 seconds, rest for 10 to 15 mins and repeat. If it does not work out, I will use my big blender.

Aww - you're so welcome PeachyLove!

I don't have a dry container. I'll just try it with the regular, or use a smaller blender as you suggest.

When I filed this, I saw another one I had saved, but done in the food processor. That one took over 12 minutes though.

I'm with you - I love a well stocked kitchen! To be able to grab what you need to make a recipe really works for me. Another thing I love to have on hand are already sprouted or soaked, then dehydrated nuts and seeds. I learned to do a "staple stash" from watching Rene Oswald's videos. I put them all back in the freezer and they're all ready to go for any recipe ~

    Love food prepping this way!

My first attempt at making it was after viewing Jon Kohler's vid about making it in an Omega Juicer. I have a similar juicer - a Samson ---and geez, you can even tell in his vid that it takes FOREVER.

So I just thought I'd try it in the Vita-Mix and voila! I've rediscovered the wheel. It took about two minutes, but since I wanted it to remain raw, had to stop and let it cool, then reblend for a minute.

I have an old V-Mix cannister though --still has BPA in it, so I didn't want it to sit in the cannister and I scooped it out and put outside in the snow for a few minutes...LOL

Thanks for sharing that Mary Kay ~ I've got a Samson too and wanted to try it that way some day. I think I'll skip it! ;)

She doesn't seem to be too concerned about heat, which as a raw foodist I would be. It looks as if the heat caused by blending the shredded coconut is really helping her to make the coconut butter.

If someone makes this watching the temperature so that it is still raw, please post about your results.

    Thanks!

DebB, Glad I saved you about 45 min - 1 hr of your life. Seriously, it took a long time, plus cleanup etc!

Walnutty, I was concerned about the heat, and now that I recall, I think I ran it through the Vita-Mix three times for about a min and a half each time. To make nutbutters, I've found the magic number to be 3 1/2 cups. That way the tamper reaches it easily and can stir it. I'm betting I ran it for about 1 1/2 minutes each time. Poured out the coconut butter into a dish and put it into the snow. Well, go ahead and read my earlier post.....

    HTH,
