    Default Finally....

... I've got my hands on a juicer. Nothing fancy but hopefully it will do it's job. I've borrowed a few books from the library so I can read up on juicing during the weekend.

SO... on Monday I will start my juicefast. I'm not sure how long I will do it for.... it depends on how it feels.

Any good advice from you seasoned juicers out there? Do:s and don't:s?

To be honest with you Tanja, I like juices almost better than foods. I know how silly this sounds but I would rather juice my sweet fruits than eat them. The dark red/black grapes gives the sweetest refreshing juice. Watermelon, OMG, I think I could live on it, same with pineapple. I fill full and refreshed from the juice.

What NOT to do: juice bananas, lol, they come out like mush (is that even a word?) anyways, don't juice bananas, it's a waste of the yummy banana, better to keep it after your juice fast :)

What to DO: juice anything you like, make your own special juices, experiment with different flavours, for instance: pear and pineapple is so good!! (make sure you peel the pineapple, I saw in some recipes that you didn't have to do that, but others say you do, so I peeled it.

*If you juice oranges, make sure there's no peel or seeds/pits in there!
*If you juice grapes, don't worry about the little seeds! oh and try to drink it in 1 day, the grape juice, because it's really yummy, but the day after I found it tasted weird...
*It's best to drink fresh juices everyday, but if you don't have enough time to do that, you can always juice the day before, and put it in a glass bottle (for instance a water bottle) and save it like that in the frigde.

    Most of all: HAVE FUN!!

    Enjoy,
    Joke

UPS says my juicer will arrive today! BUT, my friend who sent it couldn't find the directions for a few days, so I won't be getting those in the mail right away.

What are some of your favorite juice mixtures? I've got lots of fruits and vegi's around the house, but no idea what I will like mixed together? Any favorites or suggestions?

Carrot juice is my favorite... and I like that OJ with jalapeno juice. I agree with Glad- I would rather drink my fruits than eat them... I'm not a big fruit person. Sometimes the juice comes out kinda foamy- I bought a little strainer and just pour the juice through that before I drink it... I give the foamy pulp to my kitten... he loves it.

Thanks for your suggestions! I had juice for breakfast today and tried fresh OJ, apple and carrot juice, each in their own glass. They were SO good! I had never tasted carrotjuice before... it's amazing! So sweet!!! They taste so good it's hard to believe that they are good for you... and the COLOURS!!! WOW!

    Tanja,

I also enjoy a green juice made with Bosc pears and swiss chard or collard greens. Very sweet and delicious. Try it sometime.
