    Default hand crank food mills

Does anyone use these over a blender? Would you think it is healthier or more "natural?"

I would think the heat friction is probably the same. But it's the closest you can get to a mortar and pestle I guess. Like that's even necessary... but in these days sometimes you can very much benefit from such tools in such a fast paced lifestyle. As a transition tool at least.

Of course it wouldn't be so much for smoothies but more for soups or pastes.

This right here with a food mill would probably be great.

For me it's a texture thing. If I want something smooth, I don't think the texture from using a hand crank would come anywhere near what a high powered blender would produce.

The recipe you linked to has sea weed in it - I'm trying to imagine that through a hand crank.

The only experience I have with a hand crank though are the old, clamp it onto the edge of your counter top, metal hand cranks. So maybe the new ones are different?
