Feb 2013 30 day Challenge - join anytime of the month
Welcome welcome welcome!!!
Welcome to the 30 day challenge and welcome to our new monthly format.
This is our monthly challenge thread. We are choosing to do one (or perhaps split into two) continual threads so we can create a community of support within this challenge. You can join this thread at any time during the month. Don't be shy... we love new posters!!! So if you want to join us... please do!
I welcome people who are already 100% raw to join in the conversation - supporting our challengers in their quest!
This thread is specifically for those of you who are eager to commit to 30 consecutive days of eating 100% raw foods and seeing miraculous results!
I will start a new challenge thread on the first of every month. If I forget... send me a quick email and remind me... I'll get the challenge thread online for you quickly.
The focus of the monthly challenge is on staying raw and accountability. Therefore, if you have eaten all raw and then slip up and have something cooked, don't beat yourself up over it or dwell on it - but this is not space to discuss it. You are more than welcome to document it in your journal/blog or ask for help in the discussion area, but it is not necessary (and not allowed) to discuss your slip-up here in the challenge threads, just get right back on track and keep going! This thread is about celebrating what you are eating that IS raw!
I welcome you all to share pics of your dishes, ask questions, share what you are consuming (as long as it's raw). We are here to listen to your emotional and physical challenges. So share share share!!!
OH and the best part of this (not only the support but...) you can subscribe to this thread and get notified every time someone posts to it. This way you will be connected!
So let's get this party started!!!

Okay, I'm in. I got my raw food order today, so I'm well prepared!
-
Myself and a few others. I have been "bad" and I realize how much I am addicted to sugar. I did the 30 day raw food diet last year and felt fantastic.
Really looking forward to getting back into it.

I'll start the photos running with my dinner tonight:
Pineapple Pizza w/Salad:

Sorry it's not pretty a picture.. I am eating right now!

Day One
Happy February - it came in with snow here!
Breakfast: cacao, banana, pineapple smoothie (with green tea powder & maca)
Snack: pineapple & coconut (I was wishing for more tropical weather)
Lunch: Creamy Broccoli Soup (I am almost addicted to this - from RFFE)
Snack: 3 flax crackers with Grezzo cheese (Oh. My. - hard to stop at the little 3 I had) & a raw pecan brownie with cacao frosting (mmmmm)
Dinner: corn chowder w/avocado
Snack: leftover smoothie from breakfast
I really want to do more of a lower-fat approach, but today was not that day. And given all the raw snacks I made today in preparation for Sunday's big game... I'm thinking a Monday start to lowER fat will be more appropriate. Snack for Superbowl include: two kinds of Grezzo cheese, raw cheeze-its, crackers, extra brownies, raw pizza crusts ... so far. I'm hosting - if you couldn't tell.

Day 3
Queenbee, fantastic menu.
For the first 2 days ate fruit and soaked raw cashew nuts and fresh coconut water. They are aplenty here.
This morning beetroot, carrot and celery juice diluted with fresh coconut . I have my dehydrator set up and today will be spent preparing. Tomatoes are drying, wheatgrass is growing, wheat berries are soaking to make rejuvelec. Crackers will go in to the dehydrator next
First day had a massive headache, probably due to coffee withdrawals. Day 2 rested. Today feeling good and want to get into preparing raw meals and researching new recipes.

You can make your own raw smoked foods by making sure the smoke is cool before it passes over the food. Just research cold smoking processes and ignore the meat/fish aspects of the search results. Adding smoky flavours to things is easily done by adding smoked paprika if you don't want to actually smoke anything yourself.

For those who have never made Chia Pudding:
My morning Breaky:
Blend Almonds with filtered water:

Which makes great frothy Almond Mylk:

Then stir in Chia Seeds and Agave with Raw Carob or Cacao:

And you got yourself one AMAZING AND ENERGIZING SUPER FOOD!!!!

----------
Another great raw day!
Breakfast: Banana-cacao smoothie with maca
Snack: Raw granola bar & a banana
Lunch: Mixed baby green salad
Snack: Leftover banana-cacao smoothie
Dinner: Creamy broccoli soup
Snack: 1/2-apple-walnut bar (homemade - super yummy!)

Hi everyone,
Day 9. Green smoothie
Beetroot,carrot,celery,pear and ginger juice.
Chocolate mousse tart.
Argula, mango, cauliflower salad with sunflower and pumpkin seeds with a honey mustard cashew nut dressing. This was really good.
Feeling great no cravings for anything in particular besides coffee but that is more a lifestyle thing.
The 3 other ladies have been a bit nauseous ,could it be something I made. I ate what they ate perhaps less though and have had no ill effects. They thought perhaps the food was too rich, so I cut back on the fats and made more salads. One woman who complained of feeling ill, told me the other night at a gathering she inadvertently drank a glass of orange juice that had sugar added to it and immediately felt great, the nausea had subsided.
No one is saying anything but could it be that I have given them food poisoning? Could this be a symptom of detoxing?
Oh dear

I've got flu/cold. Feeling like crap but at work with desk full of fruit and lots of water. Sense of taste is absent at the moment. You know, blueberries are fairly unpleasant when you can't taste them!

Hello people!
Is it okay if I join you? I've been raw on and and off for about a year and a half, and since the beginning of the year I've been 100% with just a couple of exceptions.
Today so far I've had about 2.5L of juice (grapefruit juice, carrot juice, and celery-orange juice.
I had a really yummy salad made of dandelion, (I found some really nice tender variety at the fruit market) with raisins and cashew cheese.
A few tablespoons of hummus
Two bananas
And for dinner probably a banana and vanilla sunmylk smoothie with a scoop of pea protein.
CailHong, nausea is a sign of detox, but also it could be that they didn't tolerate the fat very well.

Hi Lucy
Welcome. Yes the food that I was serving had quite a lot of nuts and was quite rich. We all decided to cut back on the fats. They seem to be OK, although one lady is just sticking to smoothies and fruit juices for the time being.
Hi Mystic
Hope you feel better soon.
