    Default Honey and molasses

Splenda is what I have been using for years (About 3 packs a day). My health is bad and I'm 65 and I am cutting down on all sweets. So I figure I can use a teaspoon of honey or molasses instead. Please don't tell me Raw foodist don't eat honey because I'm looking for health. My cholesterol is 257 and yes I did eat at fast foods. I've been a Vegan before and I sure better be one now going toward the raw foods if I want to live a little longer. Can anyone advise me because the web info is confusing to me. Any info would be great.

Well I love honey and still use it sparingly in my cups of tea. I have been known to have a bit of a sweet tooth and it was a real battle to bring it under control.

First I drew the line at fake sugars, the high fructose corn syrup, and the beet sugar. If I was going to eat something sweetened it had to be natural like honey, maple, or real cane sugar, preferably a turbinado. That stopped me from eating and drinking allot of crap and suddenly the grocery store got allot smaller. There maybe 30 aisles in the store but 25 of them are filled with various corn syrup concoctions that are terrible for you. I became a gourmet soda drinker and my fentimans craving cost me more then most people spent on beer.

Then when I discovered juicing, I switched from having sweetened drinks to using fruit to sweeten my green juices. Over the course of months I started to use less and less fruit in my morning juices till I am the point now I only use non sweet citrus like grapefruit, lemon, and lime in my green juice. I still sip on a sweeter fruit juice in the afternoon as a pick me up treat, but my overall sugar consumption has dropped dramatically.

What I really needed all along was to learn how to like a non sweet super good for you green drink. Now the fentimans is in the basement gather dust. It is still the best soda I have ever had, but I love my non sweet super green zingy ginger juices way more.

    I use honey!

I have one recipe that needs the honey to taste right. I did research the company to make sure they treat their honey bees fairly and ethically. It is also raw and organic!

I have been thinking of dehydrating mangoes and then grinding them up with an herb grinder. It would be like mango sugar! Mangoes are so sweet! As soon as they are in season they will be super cheap and I am going to try this!

    lostsoul62, how you tried stevia?

Make sure your honey is RAW. If possible, try to find a farmer near you and buy directly from him.

    All the best!
