    Default Hello from Delaware

My name is Kate and I'm living in Delaware with my husband. I am 27 years old and I have wanted to try raw food for about 4 years now. I managed to go a month raw once (3-4 years ago), after I did the Master Cleanser for 10 days (actually about 11-12 including the couple days it takes to eat solid food again), but I caved at a month and had a slice of pizza and it was all down hill from there. And that time I was mostly eating nuts and dehydrated food, so I consider that the wrong way to go raw... sure it was interesting to make things and a lot of it was tasty, I don't think eating mostly nuts is the way to go at all. I read 80/10/10 a few months after that and that is really where I want to be.

Everytime I try to do just a few days with only raw fruits and veggies, I literally freak out by the third day. I often don't make it past the second night without having something cooked (usually a little bit of peanut butter). I don't know why. I tried again last week and I was doing my best to eat enough but alas, I hit that point where my body and my mind literally broke down in many strange ways. I'll get into it in more detail in a more appropriate topic thread.

So here I am. I need support so that is why I joined. I've joined a forum like this before many years ago for the same reason... and I didn't use it enough I guess cause I failed then as well. I just watched a documentary where I guy juice fasted for 60 days. I am considering buying a juicer and going 10 days... kind of like a master cleanser reboot but better. I don't think I would ever do MC again. I tried once more since then with a partner but we both caved. I do better alone. But honestly, while I liked the cleanse I don't think I find it to be a good idea. I think a fresh juice "fast" will be much better and will appropriately reset my body since it will be getting all the nutrients it needs.

Is anyone else in the delaware area? I'm a busy person but if there is I would love to have someone to help me stay on board and give me ideas for different fruits/veggies to try and ways to stay focused.

My goal right now is to lose weight. My husband is deployed and he comes home in about 3 months. I spent the first half of his deployment adopting a workout schedule where I hadn't been exercising before. I even ate an average of 1200-1400 calories a day for about 4 weeks. I was doing great and lost 10 pounds. But then Christmas came (I even did well through thanksgiving!) and I ate too much and with the cookies EVERYWHERE at work, I just lost all willpower and stopped tracking my calories. I finally got fed up when I noticed I gained about 5 lbs back and tried raw fruit/veggies again and (again) failed at the third day.

I want to lose about 20 more lbs. 15 would be sufficient but I don't want to stop there. I am only 5'0" and I weigh about 147 right now... usually I am around 155 and I feel very heavy still. Granted, it is a lot of muscle. I lift weights often so I have quite a bit of muscle tone... its just covered by a layer of fat right now! Booo!

So here I am. The 30 days before he returns I am determined to go on one of those 30 day challenges. It will probably be the month of April (I'll post a topic of hop on someone else's when it gets closer)... but until then I want to eat sensibly, get into my workout routine (its been scattered but I want to set it at 2 hrs every other day), and if I get a juicer I will definitely do a fruit fast for 10 days before I start the 30 month challenge to give my body a fighting chance!!!!

Welcome...Good luck on your raw journey...you should join the 30 day raw food challenge as a way to help you. Plus, if you deviate, don't beat yourself up. Just get back on track. Many on here are high raw rather than 100%.

Where in Delaware do you live? I'm guessing near Dover?
I live on the DE/MD border, but nearer to Newark.
    Good luck with everything!

    Cheers!

    Welcome!

I noticed that I go more regularly to the gym if I tell myself I'll go everyday! Because if you make up specific days to go (for example on Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays) then it's more likely that you won't go, if only on one of those days you have other plans, you know what I mean? Telling your brain you go every day, makes it easier - at least for me. (:
