I'm on day 2 of a 14 day juice feast and had lots of energy today. Walked 2km this morning then jogged to the supermarket and back (500m each way). Then in the evening walked 4km, then jogged 3km.

I keep forgetting to post here, thanks for continuing this thread Gianni. I'm training for a 1/2 marathon (21 km) in January and can't wait! I love running on raw food, everthing just seems to click. Saturday was a 7 mile (11 km) run and Sunday was crosstraining on horseback. Today is a rest day.

Great job with your walks and runs Gianni!

Still on track! Last week I did: 2 miles on Tuesday, 7 miles on Thursday, and 8 miles on Saturday.

    How's your juice fast going?

That's some good distances you're training at. Good job! How fast do you plan on running your half marathon? Do you have a time you are targeting?

The juice fast is going great. I'm drinking tons of watermelon juice as it is in season, it tastes great, it is quick to make, and it is relatively inexpensive now. So, I've been drinking about 5 liters of watermelon juice every day plus 1½ liters of vegetable juice. It keeps me well nourished and full of energy.

Today, I did 25, 20, 20 push-ups, did a bit of swimming in the pool, and in the evening jogged 3.5 km with the dog.

    Get some!

Thanks Gianni! I am not fast all, I just enjoy getting outside! I am doing about 11:30 per mile, so my target would be about 2 1/2 hours, but I'm really not focusing on time, just the experience. :)

This past week was about the same, 2 miles on Tuesday, 7 miles on Thursday, and then 10 miles (16 km) on Saturday. Never in my life would I think I could say I could run 10 miles! If anyone thinks they can't exercise, YOU CAN! It really just takes putting one foot in front of the other and keeping up with it. No matter how far or long, just do it for you! I could not even run 1/4 mile about two years ago, now 10 miles?!?!

Your juice fast sounds sooo good, especially with all the watermellon juice! Yummy!!! And you're getting great exercise too! Have a great week!

Don't worry about how fast you run. You're doing a great job putting in those miles!
After a while the distance becomes a little easier and you'll naturally do it a little faster.

When you run your race though, be sure to pace yourself; don't go out too fast. It's easy to get caught up with a group of runners, with everyone's adrenalin pumping, starting out faster than you should. So just relax, watch your breathing so that you're not breathing too hard too soon, and let the faster runners go off in front of you. You don't want to burn yourself out after only a few miles.

Most of all, be proud of yourself. Not many people can say they can or have run a half-marathon. Probably not one in a hundred.

No, problem, 2 husky girl. Be sure to let us know how you get on in your race.

Things are going well in my exercise routine. Jogged 2 miles the past two nights and 1¼ the night before that. It's the first time I've jogged three nights in a row in years. It seems like I'm able to jog more often and that it's easier. The cool weather has helped too.

Planning on doing another 5K race at the end of January.

Well I am here for the last 2 days of December. LOL. I will certainly be here for January. I've finally joined a gym and am committed to getting in shape (as well as gaining ALL sorts of health back)

Today I biked for 8 miles (slow pace), and walked 2. I am getting over a nasty flu of some sorts so I am taking it easy, and probably will be for a while.

To those talking about 5k's... i've never done one, but have always wanted to... oh my, that would be an awesome goal to set.

and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind:
and God saw that it was good.

Blackcat, running races is pretty fun, and it's really not too difficult to do. Just get used to walking the distance first and eventually walk it faster, and then start jogging half the distance and walking the rest, and then gradually jogging the full distance. Take your time. Go at your own pace.

Most races usually have a longer more serious distance like 10km, and then they also have a fun run with a shorter distance like 2 miles. So the fun run might be a good place for you start.

Last week was a busy week, but I got all my runs in: Tuesday - 4 miles, Thursday - 7 miles, Friday - 2 miles, and Saturday - 10 miles. Two more weeks to go!

Great job on your exercise for the week, Gianni! Cooler weather is always such a relief! That's great that you're planning for a 5k!

Welcome BlackKat! Awesome on your committment to getting in shape! A 5k is a perfect goal to set, you can do it!!!
