Default Everything in moderation, rather than excess...

As I'm sure many of you are aware, there has been some negative publicity recently, with regard to a certain Hollywood actor suffering serious health problems after adopting a high-fruit diet.

Let me make it clear that it is not my intention for this post to be the focus of a debate surrounding those issues. I respect the right for anyone to choose whatever dietary path they wish.

With that said, however, I believe it is responsible to provide the community with any information which may assist them in making informed decisions as to how they structure or bias their dietary intake.

The following may prove helpful to that end:

I am not implying that the above article's conclusions are 'unassailably correct'. I am merely posting the link because it does contain intelligent discussion on a number of facets of the issue; facets which are at least important to consider in making an informed decision.

As ever, it's a matter of availing oneself of the available information (even if one doesn't necessarily agree with all of that information, philosophically-speaking), and then making one's own decision. 'Throwing the baby out with the bathwater' and/or 'burying one's head in the sand' doesn't serve the best interests of anyone in the longterm, so being informed is a wise and rational approach, whatever one's philosophical leanings.

Thanks Arky. I had read about the actor and wondered. I've never thought an all fruit diet would be the way to go personally. I'm not sure about limiting fructose to only 25 grams either. I do think you need a fair mix of fruits and veggies at least with some nuts thrown in to be balanced. If you are healthy do you really need to limit your fruit?

Fruit is cleansing. That means it assists us to release/remove toxins. So no doubt an unhealthy body would experience negative results from that.

A well-rounded raw diet is a good way to increase our health. We all know that. Mainstream articles seldom support what we know to be true as raw foodists so that's no surprise here.
