New and Rawkin it!!!! Hello, my name is Mike and this is where good health starts
Hello everyone :) glad to be here.
I've chosen to go raw because I know the best fuel for our bodies has to be what mother nature creates instead of some saran wrapped chemical concoction that's squirted into some plastic dish at my local supposed food store. I believe in the name of profits we are being fed poison, a very tasty and addictive poison I might add. My SAD diet consisted of about 7-15 fast food meals a week at least once a day sometimes twice a day. (Edited list of SAD restaurants). You name it and if it was cheap I ate it. I also ate many home cooked (edit: SAD) meals I sure loved the (Edit: SAD). I now have a gut the size of a spare tire and my energy levels are down. I just turned 35 and have been eating this way for around 20 years now. When I was a kid I was extremely active and my bad eating habits didn't show up at first. Once I hit 25 the gut made an appearance and you could see in my face the fat was getting packed on as I wasn't as active anymore but my eating habits didn't change. Everything's been the same since. So here I am concerned for my health and wanting to make a change, I started raw yesterday 12/27/12 I weighed 220 pounds and am 6 foot tall. My waist line measured 44 inches but i wear size 34 pants. Mainly the weight was packed onto my gut, upper legs, and somewhat on the face. I just want to feel good, I know the weight lose will just come with healthy eating.
What am I eating?
Banana's lots of bananas at .57lb, these are going to have to be my staple as they are cheap.
Oranges and mandarins, the cuties are on the shelves and at $.50lb, I grabbed like 30 pounds to start with
I got Medjool dates $5.00 for 12 ounces as a treat they are quite spendy.
Cherry tomatoes I just eat them like candy. small little containers for $1.88
Avocados .89 each, I'll eat one a day to ward off the junk food cravings as my body is screaming for fat.
salads with bell peppers, onions, jalapenos, anything fresh!
ohhh heres a good one, ----> Raw Cacao Nibs<----- if you can't stand the mushiness of banana's anymore sprinkle some of these guys in your mouth first before you take a bite it's chocolatey banana yumminess with a crunch.
and of course water water water
I plan to start juicing but I got to save some funds for a juicer, maybe a thrift store has a used one?
Also plan to grow and eat my own sprouts. (BABY PLANTS GET IN MY BELLY!!!!)
also plan to start walking/biking/stretching everyday to get my muscles moving again
Wish I would have started this years ago, I knew what I was doing was unhealthy, I knew the poisons were in the manufactured foods, I knew meat wasn't good for us, I knew better!
Well thats my intro guys and gals most likely I'm going to need your help and advice along the way
This RAW MONSTER has just started muwaaaa ha ha ha :)

Guess there are 2 sides to the raw cacao story, I will be using them a bit more sparingly now. Guess some nice raw nuts will give me the same crunch :)

It's never too late to start eating right. You're still relatively young and if you eat and exercise like you propose to do, then you will whip yourself into shape in no time.
I'd rather eat vegan and look like a tree than eat cow and look like a pig.

Its never too late to start a healthy lifestyle. Your body is a amazing machine and you will be surprised at how you can undo past damage. You may want to start slow because you will probably experience detox symptoms. You can google that to find out what may happen if you go 100% raw and juice without giving yourself a ramp up period. You may also derail your efforts if you don't allow yourself a transition period.
Best of luck to you!

Alissa's philosophy is go raw and go 100%. Dive in... the waters are fine!
I find that with clients (I'm a raw food and fasting coach), the clients who go 100% raw do way better in the long run than the ones who put in a toe. The one's with the toe in hold on to cooked food and often never let go of it fully.
IF you are striving for health and weight release... dive in. Your body will thank you!

Still going strong guys and peeing like a water hose lol... I guess the first thing you notice is your pee is much much more clear and not so much yellow. I equate that to less bad crap is going in my body now so less is coming out, also more water is diluting it. Any way you look at it its better. I'm a cold turkey kinda guy, I quit smoking this way years ago, and it worked for me. Having this outlet to write on now will help me tons as well. So far no cravings for crap, but I do crave for my one avocado a day, is there too much fat in those to have 2? lol...
Thanks for the posts guys :)
Think I'll go get some pineapple today

If one is doing it alone with no counsel, what about all the toxins stirred up? If they don't exit the body properly or quickly, they can be reabsorbed by the body. It sounds as if Mike has had a life-long bad diet...that was my only concern.

I would say that one to two avocados a day are fine for a larger man, especially in a transition period and if you are not eating much other fats on those days.
I'd rather eat vegan and look like a tree than eat cow and look like a pig.
