Default Brown Rice Protein - best time to consume?

    Hello,

I'm not actually raw or vegan but I am vegetarian and eat mostly fresh organic foods. I have digestive issues and take HCL for stomach acids and digestive enzymes with meals. I was previously having whey protein with meals but I did not tolerate this. I am trying a Brown Rice Protein powder (Sprouted & Bio-fermented) but am wondering whether it is best to take this between meals or with meals? Any advice or experience is welcome.

My concern with when to take it:

    * With meals means drinking lots of water with food which does not help digestion.
    * Away from meals possibly means it goes through too quickly and not with the aid of digestive enzymes.

Currently I'm just mixing it with water and drinking it... but maybe it would be better (digestive wise) to make it into a shake with things like nuts, coconut milk, coconut oil, banana.. etc???

Any advice or experience is welcome. Thanks.

Afraid not. Though I drink a tall glass of water with each snack and meal and sip all day long.

I didn't know this was bad for digestion. I think it really depends on yor body if that makes sense.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah your right it depends on the individual... I have lots of digestive problems and I find too much water with meals doesn't work for me while some people have no problems drinking with meals. Maybe it is diluting my already low stomach acid or maybe causing the food to transit through stomach too fast.

Anyway hopefully others can give thoughts and experience in regard to consuming Brown Rice Protein.

    Thanks! :)

I have no idea about the rice protein. As raw foodists we don't really use stuff like that. Sorry.

But... for you digestive issues. Read "Green for Life" by Victoria Boutenko. It'll change your life!

Green smoothies daily will increase your enzymes naturally. (that's what the book is about)

I've always added brown rice protein powder to my green smoothies. I like to add most superfoods/supplements to my smoothie so I get most of my nutrients that way. You can also consume it as your first meal as a drink mixed with fresh greens and green powder.

I also add raw brown rice protein to my green smoothies and even mix it with almond butter and a little water and put it on fruit like apples & bananas when I need a little extra boost. I try to eat protein after my morning workouts, and also as my last snack before bed so I wake up with lots of energy (I work out a ton lol). I LOVE LOVE LOVE Sun Warrior raw brown rice protein. It tastes amazing, digests perfectly for me and I honestly think they should charge more for it b/c it's that good. But I'm glad they don't ;-) I always notice my muscles recover faster when I'm eating it regularly.

Thanks for raw sprouted brown rice protein powder, I can now drink green smoothies again. For a long time, I was reacting to the sugar in them and was getting hypoglycemic. A friend of mine who is a graduate student to become a naturopathic doctor suggested I combine protein with the natural sugars to balance them out, and this has been an effective strategy for me. Thanks goodness because I love the vitality of green smoothies.
I get the expensive stuff, it's organic, raw, sprouted, etc.
