What? I've never heard of that? I was excluding them... What is a nut, then??? Now I'm confused....

    OMG!!!! You're RIGHT!!!

    Here's what Google said:

"Today I found out that almonds are not nuts. In fact, an almond is the seed of the fruit of the almond tree. This tree bears fruits with a “stone-like” seed within.
Fruits with these characteristics are called “drupes”. Specifically, a drupe is a fruit that has an outer fleshy part surrounding a shell that contains a seed. Other drupes include fruits from walnut trees and coconut trees.

The seed inside the almond fruit is what is commonly referred to as an almond “nut”, even though it’s not a nut. A nut is a hard shelled fruit that has an indehiscent seed; more simply, a hard shelled fruit that doesn’t open to release its seed(s). An example of a true nut would be an acorn or chestnut.

This all gives a whole new perspective to the famous Almond Joy jingle “Sometimes you feel like a nut; sometimes you don’t”. When you feel like a nut, an Almond Joy wouldn’t do you any good due to the ingredients primarily comprising of chocolate (bean), coconut (seed), and almonds (seed). The ending of the jingle, like so many advertisements, is then just plain false advertising: “Almond Joy’s got nuts” (LIES!!!), “Mounds don’t”."

Of course eating raw we would NEVER eat either one of those, I just quoted that cuz it was interesting way to look at it. I'm NOT advocating eating that junk...y'all get that, right?

I don't know why you have to so apologetic singing a commercial diddy of a candy bar. Unless someone wants to be so anal about it, but that is their problem. Life is too short to fear the raw food nazis. Of course we know you are not advocating eating an Almond Joy. But eating on rarely wouldn't hurt anybody either.

I know, thank you... Just don't want this thread to take a turn down that road is all. Glad no one was offended... :)

I expect there is an almond joy counterpart over here. Along with a similarly silly ditty :) Certain "nuts" not being nuts is a biological thing and maybe it's like a cow not being a sheep - both are m3@t - and if you go nut free then you don't eat those nut-posing seeds/drupes ;)

Yes...those were what I was referring to as "nuts", including Pecans also. Alissa's books don't use Acorns or Chestnuts. Both books refer to those aforementioned as "nuts".

...I guess it's just being "technical". It's like Buckwheat isn't really a grain, but a fruit. I don't want to over think it. :)

Yep!!! I think I had a mild headache maybe once between that migraine and today. I really don't even remember having even that, though... Really!!!! I really believe it was something in my Colon that probably lived there for years, that needed to come out! (Yea, ok...that's GROSS!!!!). I'm just glad it's not using my body as a host anymore!!!!

I didn't make anything new yesterday. I will be drinking juice today, but I may decide to make something, I'll keep you posted!

it is a little gross but if it makes migraines better it's okay it's hard to be a good mommy if you've got a migraine.

Gianni, thanks, I ordered it too.

ReneeH, this looks awesome. How are you doing it without nuts? They are an important part of my diet. (They keep me full rather than fruit and veggies that never fill me up.)

I'm doing ok... But my Hubby just walked in with some really Raw Pecans!!!! I could just choke him!!!!! He KNOWS I'm laying off nuts!!! I guess I can just save them and look forward to making them candied...

I DO miss my nuts... But as Aleesha says, they will be there when I'm finished. :-)

I'm finishing my fruit bundle this evening and munching on Kim Chi. So, I'm happy!!!

Today's Morning Smoothie was a suggestion from RFFE, Spinach, Kiwi, and Pineapple. It was VERY sweet for me, so I added a Banana and it was perfect. I wanted to try one of Alissa's Pies as a nut-free version, so I made Sweet Potato Pie from LOLF!!!!! It's FABULOUS with or without the nuts:

Sweet Potato Pie from LOLF, NUT FREE!!!!!!!!!

I put it in a mold to form and added another Date to the Frosting to thicken it up.
