Allergic to Dr. Bronner's Tooth Soap?
Hello everyone.
I recently got my Fusch's natural toothbrush in the mail - LOVE it - and Dr. Bronner's Magic Soap (to use as tooth soap). I have only used it twice now, but the first time my mouth and under my tongue felt.. well, strange afterward. I got these weird rough patches in my mouth and they.. Ah, I don't really know how to describe how it made my mouth feel. It makes it tingle, burn and a general unpleasant sensation in my mouth, under my tongue and my tongue. While I use it it feels pretty nice and my gums feel better, but the second time around it made it worse and then the rough patched felt like they were swollen. Also it is making me salivate. I'm not sure what to do, or if I should keep using it. Perhaps I used too much, both times I used more than 2 drops (four or five) accidentally. Could this be an allergic reaction? I googled around and found nothing.

Aspie,
I'm not familiar with Dr Boronner's tooth soap. The recommended uses indicate 1 - 2 drops however, I'm not sure whats inside of it.
If you feel off using it and possibly experiencing unpleasant reactions, I would consider waiting a few days to see if the rough patches go away.
It's time to live.
With love, Kit

Hi aspie and proud ~ When I first tried Dr. Bronner's as a tooth soap, it really burned my mouth. It was the "Hemp Almond" soap. I then tried the baby soap (Dr. Bronner's) and that worked just fine, didn't burn my mouth. Perhaps you too would have better luck with a different Dr. Bronner's soap?

you could be allergic to coconut perhaps???

Gah! Coconut.. /cry.. allergies could be possible. =( Hopefully it's not a food allergy, they are a lot of poo... ><

I've been using Dr. Bronner's Magic soap as tooth soap also. I have the peppermint. I haven't had any problems with it myself. I just wet my toothbrush and add 1-2 drops. I brush my teeth twice a day, once with tooth soap (after lunch) and once with just hot water (before going to bed). It's a big bottle so it's going to last forever. :)
I also bought it because I was looking for a natural shampoo. But, I don't like it as a shampoo because just like all the other natural shampoos I've tried so far, it leaves your hair feeling tacky.

Oh no.. I really HOPE it's not the coconut oil! I just bought my first gallon tub of Cold Pressed (Coconut oil) from Wilderness Family Naturals!
Well, I didn't use it for a few days and my mouth got better. I used it again, first as a mouthwash and then again last night and today as a tooth soap again. It comes out pretty fast, but I managed to only do a drop each time and it hasn't flared up again. I will keep using it, but I am still interested in trying other varieties. I was reading that there are 18 USES. How exciting. I just used it to clean up vomit from the carpet. Does anyone else use it for multiple purposes?
kurt28 - Ah. I was thinking of trying it as a shampoo, but I just started using baking soda and OACV and that has been working pretty well (besides my oily roots).

We use Bronner's here. I get the citrus and we use it in the shower. I also put some in an old bottle I got when I was in the hospital that makes it foamy for washing hands. We use it to clean the litter box. I also use it to clean the bathroom cupboard top. I haven't tried it for cleaning my teeth though because I bought some peelu toothpaste and we haven't run out yet.
I'm not thrilled with it for washing my hair but I'd rather use it than commercial shampoo.
