Exclamation Need some support and inspiration...

    Hi everybody,

I love this forum. I used to be active on it two years ago and off and on. For about 8 months this year (2012) I was high raw.

I had not been to a dentist in far too long, so I sort of freaked
out when I saw my gums receding faster than usual this past spring. After I went to the hygienist and got a Sonicare electric toothbrush, I got the problem under control. However, I sortof blamed the raw food diet at the time. I read that book by
Ramiel Nagel about tooth decay, championing (EDITED: SAD products) for fat-soluble vitamins.

So, I went off raw. Starting on June 14, 2012, I began drinking (EDITED: SAD) again, and (EDITED: SAD).

Well, here it is 6 months later, and I do not feel better. I'm not sure my teeth and gums are any healthier by reverting to (EDITED: SAD). I've been feeling little chest pains, and I have much more noticeable cellulite all up and down my thighs. Ugh!

I really yearn to return to my earlier self-disciplined ways. I really love green smoothies, but I have become lazy. I am in Ukraine right now, and it is so cold in the kitchen in the
morning that I just don't feel like chopping vegetables. All
I can manage to do is curl up with a mug of coffee.

Another element to this is that my mom died three weeks
ago. I feel a lot of anger, because she knew she was dying
and didn't even want to say good-bye to me. As the days go by, I feel more and more sadness and depression. I think I'd rather feel anger!

I've slipped into emotional eating - including alcohol - which makes me even more depressed. Normally, I run every day, but the ground has become too slippery.

For about a week now, my breasts have felt very sore, and today I located a small, painful, hard lump. I don't want to freak out. I have seen so many testimonies about how diseases can be reversed by a raw diet, especially with green smoothies, so whatever this lump is, I should be able to reverse it.

I want and need to go raw again and resume morning smoothies. Tomorrow is January 1, 2013, so it's a great date to start.
I intend to go cold turkey on everything: no more coffee, refined (EDITED: SAD food) and of course, alcohol. I will substitute with green tea, green smoothies, raw salads, incorporating all the things reputed to fight cancer: turmeric, garlic, etc.

But I sure could use some support! I really can't talk about this with my Ukrainian friends. They just roll their eyes. They assume (EDITED: SAD) is necessary for protein, and you know they love their vodka!

I'll be logging in to this forum every day and reading for reinforcement and inspiration. Hopefully - they say new habits can be formed in 21 days - I can make the lump (and anxiety) go away.

Thanks for listening, and Happy New Year!

Hi Courtney. I realise that it is hard for you because you have a lot going on right now and the cold certainly does not help but it is so terribly important that you give your body the help that it needs to fight this. You need to give it all the right foods but also the right emotional tools. Meditation would help or Meridian Tapping (EFT).

A habit can be formed instantly if you want to include it in your life. Doing something for 21 days doesn't make it a habit so instead of looking into the future just look at today.

    Today this is your reality.
    Today.

Thanks. Yesterday I had a green smoothie, ran for 30 minutes, including two long uphill stretches (the ice has melted!), and raw salad for dinner. I repeated the same thing today, although this time I ran in the dark, using a flashlight. Daylight is better, but I worked on my book until 7 pm. About the 21 days: that is standard time to lock in "the new normal." I'll have to disagree with one of you. You do not form a HABIT in one day. I hear what you're saying, though. We have to adopt the SADOHOLIC's (I'd use another word, but apparently it is now taboo on this forum) creed: "Just for Today."

Just for today I will make a green smoothie for breakfast.
Just for today I will run for thirty minutes.
Just for today I will think positive thoughts.

Oh, the lump is less painful today, too. I was reading about fibroids and how they can become painful before one's menstrual period (is that a taboo word, too?) Mine is in 2 days, so maybe the lump will shrink...

Thanks for your support. (I wonder how many "SAD-editeds" I am going to see in this post :-) Hmmm....

    Hi Courtney,

I'm the one who made the edits. I'm new at moderating, so please bear with me. The experts are working with me so that I can do the edits in a way that respects the forum as well as the person who posts.

Although I certainly didn't mean to offend you by making the edits, the SAD things that are specifically mentioned (in your original post) did need to be edited out.

I have had my posts edited by Mods before, too. It's not personal. We are just trying to keep the forum as upbuilding and focused on the raw lifestyle as possible.
