Newly Pregnant and having aversions!
Hello all
I just recently found out that I am expecting. I've been 100% raw for 4 months now. I planned to do the same through the pregnancy, because of how great I feel all the time! The first four weeks were great. I was drinking green smoothies and green drinks everyday, salads, sprouts, wheat grass, etc, just as I always had. In the last few days I've hit a road block. I'm having incredibly strong cravings and aversions... along with some nausea. No sickness, just nausea, just like with my first pregnancy. I'm having cravings for cooked foods, food I don't eat, and aversions to greens and sprouts. I've heard that a lot of pregnant women have these aversions to greens and the theory being the baby cannot properly process them early on in the pregnancy. I've always loves greens, and the thought of eating them now is a nightmare. I don't know what to do. I want to eat the best possible, but I also believe in listening to my body and cravings. I believe cravings are there for a reason. Anyone heard of any theories or facts behind this? I don't wan't to force myself to eat them, if its not vital.
As for the cooked food, I have been eating that in the last few days, vegan of course. Haven't even really enjoyed that either, but at least I could bare to bring it to my mouth! I've also been extremely sluggish and tired... could be the cooked food that my body is not used to, could be the pregnancy. I am taking a raw prenatal vitamin, but I really want to be sure I'm getting proper nutrition. When I do eat raw the last couple of days, its one thing... one carrot, one apple, orange juice, one banana. Also drinking a little coconut water. Thats all that I can stomach.
If anyone has had similar experience or has any words of wisdom, I'd love to here! This is my first 'raw' pregnancy and I'm excited!

no baby stuff knowledge here , but want to say is ide add alot of homemade nut n seed milks for their high protein and good fats .
plus theyre easy on stomach . and great bases for fruit smoothies
-
Yes, I do that everyday. That is usually my base for smoothies. I'm also rotating with using a nettle infusion for my smoothie base. I know its really high is iron and calcium. I think my smoothies are the only good think I'm getting right now, as far as hard core raw nutrition. Maybe I should just do a few a day!

and with seed n nut you can use alot of them to make a very potent / concentrated milk
two things ive found as 20 year vegan that put bulk on me are walnuts (good omega too) and
i think recently ive found that surprisingly spirulina which im mixing with orange juice is putting
on bulk . though i guess not surprising as its very protein high . im adding heaping tbsp per day
to orange juice which makes it taste good . though i also buy slippery elm in bulk from
mountain rose to add tbsp per too and this seems to be a real good stomach soother
oh hemp seed too

May I ask, what do you mean by put on bulk? My concern is getting enough nutrition, not necessarily just putting on weight, if thats what you mean. I know that will happen naturally, as long as I'm getting proper nutrition. Thank for your suggestion with the spirulina and orange juice. I think I'll try that! I'll also check on slippery elm and pregnancy :)
Any other advice welcome!

sorry i left that uncatergorized . i meant put on bulk on your baby . providing the heavy protein / fats for full development before birth . plus building up yourself back up from your bodies work of providing nutrients for developing baby
