Thread: Hi Raw Foodies

  1. #1

    Default Hi Raw Foodies

I'm Yvette, and I've been lurking for a few days. Think I'm ready to take the plunge this weekend, although I will go slowly. I have a Vitamixer, so I've been blending green smoothies for some time now, but its the junk I put in my body after the smoothie that negates the effects.

Any ideas on what I can eat to feel full?

Absolutely! I have found that adding Mila to my smoothies not only makes me feel full, it also destroys my cravings for the sad stuff! So glad you are here, and welcome!! I wish you the best of rawesome health :)

    watermelon, apples, bananas, dates, almonds.
I'd rather eat vegan and look like a tree than eat cow and look like a pig.

Mila is the gold standard for chia seeds and the absolute best form of organically grown, nutrient dense raw food. Each harvest is tested for its purity, and Mila has been clinically tested nutritionally against other popular chia seed brands on the market and Mila wins every time. Furthermore, a percentage of the profits of each bag goes to feed and sustain communities globally! (That's why I LOVE this company!!) I have found my GI doesn't like watermelon mixed in with other things...I have read that it's because it's so high in water it makes it hard for the rest of what you eat to be broken down and absorbed. Watermelon by itself is a-m-a-z-i-n-g!!!!

I agree. It's best on an empty stomach. Great by itself for breakfast (or breakfast and lunch).

By the way, did you know that half of a 22 lb. watermelon has about the same amount of calories as one Big Mac with cheese?

    Welcome! I'm glad you're here :)

I've found that the "full" feeling from SAD is different from raw. For me, if I have a lot of heavy things, like pesto stuffed mushrooms warmed in the dehydrator, something full of fats and intense flavors, it will come close. With time I can get past that need to feel that fullness, and know when my body is not in need of more food because my nutritional needs have been satisfied. With raw, nutrient dense foods, you don't need to pack it in to get what your body needs. It's just an adjustment period, for me at least.

As a matter of fact, I do! I think I have managed to eat a half of a watermelon in one day, but that was all I was able to eat;)

You're not negating the effect of your green smoothies, you might not be getting as much nutrition as you potentially could but you are getting alot more than if you weren't having those green smoothies! Every bit of living food you nourish yourself with brings you one bit closer to being your healthiest most vibrant self so give yourself credit for all that love you are showing yourself everytime you drink your greens! :)
Sending love and light to everyone, everywhere, always! :)

hey armywife! i'm an army wife too - where are you at right now?

also, when in doubt, add more bananas.

Opinions vary, I personally use raw fats to get full: avocados, nuts and seeds. I've lost 60 lbs doing this and I feel great. Fasts aren't for everyone, though. Another option is sprouted grains. I notice they make me full. You soak them over night, drain them and eat them the next day - easy.

Good luck on your raw journey and welcome to the forum. :)
