    Default Frozen greens

Hello all! I would like to know if anyone has ever frozen their smoothie greens (spinach, kale, beet greens etc) in freezer bags. I hate for my greens to go bad before I get to use them. Is this okay to do?

I do it. I reckon that sometimes you are better freezing it while it is fresher than using it in an older state.

    Morning all,

Dang if this post didn't make my day (well morning). I have a huge bag of kale in the fridge and I just can't seem to get through it fast enough. Knowing I can freeze it helps ease my mind AND pocketbook.

Just an aside..............I started my raw adventure 1 1/2 weeks ago and am loving it! 100% raw thus far, and look forward to getting many more weeks under my belt. This forum has been so insightful and is my go-to place for support and guidance.

    Bless you all~

This is a great idea...what is the best way to freeze them? Can you juice the greens after they are frozen or just use them in smoothies?

I've also frozen smoothie greens. What's nice is after they're frozen - you can smoosh them up (if they're in a plastic bag) and they'll break down taking up very little room.

laughalways ~ I've never tried juicing them, I've only used them in smoothies.

I find that the best way to freeze them is to wash and put in a plastic bag. Then use a straw to suck all of the air out and close tightly. With the air out they compact a good deal.

Thanks Deb and Mary...I'll have to give it a try when I can't eat or juice my greens timely.

I buy pre-washed and cut up kale in big bags at the grocery store... I freeze it as is, dry. When you take it out of the freezer it isn't even stuck together and you can use a couple handsful easily.
