Default Went to my first raw restaraunt this weekend

I experienced my first raw restaurant (Life Organics in LA) this weekend and it was such a fun experience. Loved the vibe and atmosphere and it was a pleasure being able to choose from so many fancy raw recipes that I didn't have to prepare myself lol. I'll admit that some of the flavors and tastes were a little shocking, but most of it was delicious. Also, nice to feel full on raw foods without feeling heavy or weighed down. I never feel full on raw foods, I guess gourmet foods make a difference in this aspect. The only downside is it was so expensive.

The best dish I tasted was their sweet potato burger on mango bread OMG I need to learn how to make something similar at home...so good!

We don't have many raw restaurants about. Would love to go to one as long as it wasn't too expensive. Really glad you had such a good time :)

    SWEET POTATO BURGERS
See here to make the onion bread. The sweet potato burgers are a renewal of my experiments this time last year with Lisa at Raw on $10 a day’s sweet potato pancakes. As always recipes are often defined by what’s available …

Ingredients: 2 sweet potatoes, 1 red onion, 1 apple, 0.5 sliced red chilli, 2 stalks celery, 3 dessertspoons flax, 0.5 cup sunflower seeds, a little tamari or aminos or salt to taste.

In your food processor grate sweet potatoes and apple. Set aside. Then with the blade in finely chop onion, chilli, celery sunflower seeds and tamari or salt into a paste. Add grated ingredients and pulse (or mix through in a bowl). Add flax and mix through. Shape into 8 big burgers and dehydrate for about 8 hours.

    CHILLI-CASHEW MAYONNAISE
I started out thinking I would make some not-peanut dipping sauce but I didn’t have any almond butter so I ended up making this chilli-cashew mayonnaise …

Ingredients: 0.75 cup cashews (soaked for a couple of hours), 0.5 cup sunflower seeds, 1 clove garlic finely chopped, juice of a lime, 3 tablespoons agave nectar, 1 tablespoon braggs aminos, 1 inch chopped ginger, 3 tablespoons filtered water, 0.5 sliced red chilli.
In your food processor or blender mix everything together until it forms a sauce.

    Mango Bread Makes 1 loaf

    2 cups Sprouted spelt
    1/2 cup chopped apples
    1/2 mango, peeled and seeded
    2 large dates, pitted
    1/3 cup fresh- squeezed-orange juice
    2 tablespoons olive oil
1/4 cup maple syrup, agave or honey
    2 tablespoons mango cubed
2 tablespoons apples or other fruit, diced

In a food processor, puree the ingredients except mango and fruit cubed and dice.
Transfer the mixture to a bowl and stir the cubed mango and diced apples.
On a solid dehydrator sheet, form the pureed dough into a loaf about 1 1/2 inches tall, 3 1/2 inches wide and 6 inches long. Dehydrate at 90° for 13 to 17 hours. When you take the loaf out of dehydrator it should be crisp on the outside and moist on the inside.

And definitely make more than one bath! is really good!!!
