Red face Chincha's raw recipes (with pictures!)

    Hi everybody!

I have an Instagram account that I post my raw (and some cooked vegan) recipes to, but I figured it would reach more people if I posted some of them here. I know that not everybody has Instagram, and more importantly there's never too many inspirational pics floating around here to keep us all going. Am I right? ;)

So here it goes: I'll be posting my pics and recipes here and keep adding as I go. Some of them are from Alissa's books, some from various other sites, but most are just improvised or adapted to suit my taste. I don't like to follow recipes strictly, I much rather try things and adapt the flavour of my food as I make it to suit me best. I strive to make my meals so good that not only I can enjoy it, but my carnivore boyfriend does too (which I take as a real compliment).

Zucchini pasta with Alissa's marinara sauce (with extra fresh basil)
I don't have the book here with me so I can't tell you which page this is on but it's in RFFE. This is one of my first Alissa's meals and honestly still one of my faves.

    Orange, apple and cucumber juice
I don't like cucumber juice on it's own but in this mixture it gets lost in the orange and apple flavour ;)

Raw zucchini and carrot noodles with a creamy basil dressing
I used a handful of each - cashews, sunflower seeds and pumpkin seeds as a base. Then I put in a handful of basil leaves, one small garlic clove, dash of paprika and onion powder. I also used a tablespoon or two of lemon juice to enrich the flavor a bit and of course some pink himalayan salt to taste. I added enough water for it to blend smoothly and voila!

    Lettuce wraps
These wraps were made with lettuce that I grew on my balcony (yay! :), Dara Dubinet's raw no bean hummus (the recipe is on YouTube) and julienned carrots and zucchini. Simple but fancy ;)

Hope this inspired some of you. I'll post more later!

    Part 2:

    Awesome 'cereal'
Coming home from work late, I felt like having something comforting and soothing... It resembles a bowl of cereal, having apple pieces as the cereal and banana-mesquite-vanilla (plus a little water to blend) as the milk. With a dash of cinnamon, it totally hit the spot.

    Purple berry delight
This comforting treat/dessert was made with bananas, pineapple, blueberries, oranges + grapefruit-soaked chia seeds (Like chia pudding, but made with grapefruit juice instead of mylk) I added a little raw mesquite powder to balance the tartness of grapefruit.

    Grapefruit chia pudding
(Also used in the recipe above) It was made with the juice of one red grapefruit+one sweet orange with a few tablespoons of chia. It's sweet, slightly bitter and very refreshing! I don't really like nut milk so this is a great alternative for a chia pudding if you're like me :)

    Quick avocado mash
It is easier than guacamole (not that guac is that difficult) and it literally takes minutes to prepare and clean up after. A quick snack before work - Avocado mash = 1 ripe avocado, 1 tsp lemon juice, sprinkle of pink himalayan salt and pepper. Done! I had it with carrot sticks this time, but I've also had it with raw bread and crackers or any other veggies.

    Part 3:

    Fruit bowl
Okay, okay. I know this is not a recipe. But I had to post it. I mean, does it really get much better than simple fruits and veggies?

    Stinging nettle smoothie
My huge stinging nettle morning smoothie :) nothing better than drinking it barefoot in the garden! what's in it: two bananas, three oranges, a handful of grapes, 1/2 mango, 5 strawberries and a cup of stinging nettles! (Btw - nettles don't sting once you blend them, especially if they're quite young. Nettles should be only picked to eat before they are in bloom, because after that they form crystaly sthat irritate your bladder and can cause a lot of discomfort)

My cute little naighbor with a bowl of strawberries

I know, this isn't a recipe either. But when my neighbor saw me bring strawberries into our house she came running to me asking me if she could have some...I washed a whole container of strawberries for her and she ate it all. Look at that happy face! BTW - Her parents always feed her a standard diet and they're always wondering why she doesn't want to eat. She can only get down a spoonful of pasta/rice/meat but when she sees I'm home she comes over and eats all my fruit!

    Wild berry smoothie
aka Banana, meet my secret wild strawberry freezer stash ;) My mom picked these wild berries in the woods earlier this summer. So fragrant and flavorful!

This is it for today. Now I'll try and go get some sleep. They say it's good for you :)

Thank you! I am happy to share :)

    So here goes part 4:

    Rainbow smoothie
This was a way to clean out my fridge... I had a lot of things, just not a big quantity of each separate things... This is a pic of the beautiful rainbow before it was blended.

    Chocolate-banana soft serve
Here I was indulging in a large cup of chocolate/banana ice cream with little chewy date pieces and a hint of vanilla... I was in heaven! Who needs dairy ice cream if you have this?

    Green flower
This is an example of an impromptu savoury meal. It has lettuce leaves on the bottom and a yummy salad, which I rolled up into little salad rolls before I ate it. The salad or 'filling' had zucchini, cucumber, tomato, olives, fresh basil and parsley. I also added a touch of pink himalayan salt and lemon juice to give it more flavor.

    Undercover greens
A little trick: Use blueberries to cover up the green colour of a green smoothie. Works on little kids and meat-loving boyfriends ;)

    Part 5:

    Sunshine in a cup

This tastes so fresh, sweet and summery! It is a smoothie made with oranges, bananas, kiwifruit and a little bit of mesquite powder.

    Grapefruit banana explosion
The name says it all. Red grapefruit and sweet ripe banana was a match made in heaven. Sounds simple but the two flavors together are wonderful!

    Raw vegan party platter
Flax crackers (Such as Alissa's flax crackers from LOLF) with added oregano, paprika powder and onion powder and salted avocado in the middle. It could be any cracker with a guacamole or any other sauce you may prefer!

    Crunchy salad
I made a bed of lamb's lettuce and added raw crackers, crumbled (flax crackers from above or any other), pumpkin seeds, avocado chunks and a simple olive oil-lemon-pink himalayan salt vinaigrette.
