Default How to stay raw in tough times?

So when stressful times come how do you stay on raw food? I have a feeling that many people go back to SAD diet to make them feel better (comfort food). Can you stay raw eventhough there are very stressful event, what are your experiences?

You know... I was thinking about this, how when I'm not raw, how I use "comfort" foods. I wanted to answer that you can find your own raw comfort foods, but for how I use SAD foods, there is no equivalent in raw.

What I mean is this... SAD "comfort" foods don't make me feel better, they just make me not feel, kind of like an aspirin won't heal your wound, but you won't feel the pain. The SAD foods just kind of make me in to a Zombie, it numbs me so I don't even care to deal with things. I think you've lead me to a revelation as to why I went back to SAD after being raw for over a year. My coping mechanism has always been avoidance.

So I'll be interested in seeing how others answer this, because no amount of Date Nut Torte can bring me to the numbness I can achieve with SAD food. Instead I feel more, which can be hard to deal with.

If you haven't already, listen to the old RawkinRadio shows with Rev and Alissa - they discuss this very subject and have wonderful tips.

i go through same thing . 100% for like 10 months then get into stressful times running around trying to keep work / home / etc together and boom the thought of boiled potatoes / oatmeal / dry beans n rice / etc hits and i recall the good feeling of warm foods in g.i. tract and i cook up a storm . its happened tens of times since going raw 7 years ago . my solutions become the monday fasting club , search site and shall see it , because no matter how bad i cheat on raw i stick to doing at minimum a 48 hour fast come sunday 6pm which gets me back to raw ending cooked food binge . besides monday fasting club its avacado - banana - homemade nut milk and fruit smoothies - very hearty salads with alot of avacado / walnuts / sesame seed added with homemade cold pressed oil and acv dressings in effort to pack my stomach with dense rich substances for cells to burn on . i chug a lug almond milk n banana smoothies 24/7 to stay feeling full alot of times . and though not raw green teas an appetite supressant and helps me quell appetite
