I never tried sweet potatoes - have to try them.

I am so happy because I just was able to go below my barrier on the scale that was blocking me for last 5 years !!! whuohaw !

I will write more later. Have to go to my anatomy lab now.

Okay guys, I'm desperate for advice. I'm in college, and some friends are having a huge costume party tomorrow which will undoubtedly be super-fun. Alcohol will, of course, be a very large component of the party. I know that after a solid three days of fasting, drinking would be a really bad idea... but I don't want to miss out on the company. I plan on breaking my fast the right way the next morning, not screwing it up the night before. Do you guys have any tips for staying sociable and not feeling left out in situations like this?

Take stuff with you and watch out no-one spikes your drink with alcohol or anything else! You may soon discover that the situation of being with a lot of drunk people is not fun. This is not a failing in you but a failing in those who are drunk. Good luck. :)

Totally agree with MysticTree, take juice with You, I did it several times in the past. The worst one was Thanksgiving.

on the personal note - I weighted today 249.4 pounds. Since 2007 I was trying to get below 250 and several times I came to 251 or 252 and then some life occurrence happened and I stopped ( juicing, raw diet, exercise) .
Last year before my 26 day juice feast I was 298 pounds. After 26 days I was high 250 or low 260, do not remember. But I was able to loose about 30 pounds. And the best thing is I was able to keep it off for the whole year ( plus minus 7 pounds) . So four days ago I started with 258.2
My short term goal is to get below 230 and long term goal is to get to around 190. ( I just want to get below 200 ) .

Thank You everyone for the support and good luck.

Today I have been drinking watermelon juice and orange, lemon, grapefruit. Tomorrow will do greens.

well done on breaking that barrier. I had hit a similar situation the last time I was 100% raw. Still a way off catching you up but I feel much more positive about lots of things. I have some good plans laid out. I will weigh when I get up - just for the record. I am looking forward to juice for breakfast but even though I feel less than brilliant, I'm still not actually hungry.

Like MT said, bring your own juice. That way you will have a drink in your hand.

I would just try to stay upbeat, smile, and try to stay in a good mood. If anyone asks why you aren't drinking, tell them you are on a juice fast, but be enthusiastic when you are talking about it. Say how great it is, pump your fist in the air and yell "Woo-Hoo!".

I'd rather eat vegan and look like a tree than eat cow and look like a pig.

First of all, thanks for the advice; I really appreciate it. I'm quickly realizing that health and friendship can go hand-in-hand with the right attitude and the right friends, which I'm lucky enough to have =) I've made the decision to switch back to solid foods tomorrow (good ones, though!), because the past few days have been just what I needed in this moment. This has been a good introduction for me. I feel stable, rejuvenated, and ready to tackle some new life choices. I'll definitely be back on here soon, maybe for a few days longer, too! I'll definitely keep up the short fasts over the next few months, and hopefully do a 10-day fast over winter break. Thanks for the support and inspiration!

After 4.5 days of water I just juiced 2 small oranges, 2 limes, 3 braeburn apples, 2 pink lady apples; triple filtered, so good. Probably drinking it too quickly. On with the fasting :)

Good Morning Everybody, We made it to the weekend, Just curious how many of us are left?

I do have a confession, I had 6 vodka shots last night, wonder how bad that was for my progress?
On my fifth day of juicing and I've lost 8 lbs. down to 243lbs and looking forward to getting in some good exercise this weekend to give my weight drop a boost.
    Thanks again for the support.

I am just behind U with my 249.2 lol.

I do not know if this is Ur first fast or not , but if it is I would advise not to do too much exercise because afterwords You may become very hungry I am very hungry. This was on of the reasons I had to break my fast last year - I started going to the gym and forcing myself because I felt so energized and it was mistake. now I am taking it slowly. I do some walking/jogging but nothing more.

    day 5 yeah!!!!

Thanks for the advice dawrhino, good to meet you. I have juice fasted 6 months ago for 10 days and it went really good, lost 25 lbs and kept it off. Looking to do keep juice fasting this time untill Ive lost at least that much weight. I have been exercising in the mornings and am active most of the day but hunger hasnt been a problem for me at all, I drink two or three 22oz. veg juice a day and it seems to be keeping my hunger in check. I have to believe that the morning cardio helps. If Im really feeling motivated Ill treadmill in front of the tv for 30 minutes run 20%, walk 80% before bed and itll make me sleep like a baby. Soundly I mean, not crying with my thumb in my mouth. See ya around, and keep on keepin on.

MysticTree, I knew Id get frowned on for those shots I had but Ive been drinking for a long time and have been cutting down over the past few months, I know it isnt good for me. Guess I thought itd be better to throw back a few shots of vodka than a few beers. you have a good one.
