sun dried would be fine . . . if we had much sun. As it is the solar panels will probably only be good for one low wattage light bulb for maybe 4 hours a day over winter.

your new plan ... sounds like a plan!

Made the raw tacos again last night...with extra garlic. yowza! was lovely. Think I won't do that recipe too often as I'm trying to limit the amount of fat I'm eating.
Rob I've been wondering the same thing-what does a cold weather raw food diet look like? is it realistic, or will I be eating a lot of cooked food or fats to keep warm?

Ordered a spirooli yesterday! I'm so excited.

If anyone has any advice on how you stay focused through the times when you are feeling tired or sick, it would be greatly appreciated! Also, I have felt so cold the past few days, and eating fruit and veggies just hasn't been that comforting. Does anyone have any good, easy raw recipes that might help with this a little bit?

You might want to try raw soup slightly warmed. Here's a fav of mine as it doesn't need nuts to make it thick and creamy:

    1 stalk of celery

    1 cup of carrots

    1 small zucchini, chopped

    .5 red bell pepper, chopped

    .25 C olive oil

    .5 C water

1 shallot (or, 1-2 T of chopped onion)1 clove of garlic

    1 tsp sea salt

    1) Blend all ingredients in blender until warm. (Sometimes I warm it in a pan.)

    2) Drizzle with olive oil and garnish with chopped red bell peppers and lemon-pepper seasoning.

Mr Raw swears by juiced Chua greens for warmth. Not tried it myself as getting chia to sprout well has been tricky.

Rob, I found that I really ate lots of nuts and avocados for about the first two months going 100% raw then my body seemed to adjust on its own and I naturally slowed down on the amounts I was eating of those. It was quite expensive for those months and I was glad when I stopped "needing" all the heaviness and fats that I was used to from cooked foods. Hopefully, the same will happen for you. On another note, I've tried all the raw hot chocolate recipes I can find and none are quite right so maybe I'll experiment myself this winter. While I've never been a huge hot chocolate drinker, I've found I like the warm drinks and soups more now that I'm raw. Another problem for me is getting the hot chocolate "hot" enough, lukewarm just doesn't cut it for me.
Glad to see everyone is doing good and staying raw to the best of their ability.

    Hi everyone...

Just wanted to pop in and let you know that I'm still here. I haven't been able to post... My hubby's surgery went well, but his recovery has not been easy for either of us. He's still not eating. Everything he eats he vomits....except Banana, Avocado, and Jello. He's already a very thin person, and he's lost so much weight because he can't keep anything down. He even throws up veggie broth.

I've been trying to stay as raw as possible myself...although I've been under tremendous stress with everything that I'm doing. When he was in the hospital, I was able to take Raw Pizzas with me which kept me from starving. I also took Date Nut Tortes and Garlic Ginger Crackers to snack on. If it weren't for my raw business, I don't know what I'd do! I drank some Kombucha today and, I don't know why, but it actually relaxed me a bit...even though it's supposed to be stimulating.

Anyway, I gotta keep this short cuz I'm at work. So great to see so many still posting here! I'll have to catch up with you guys next week.

Well done on coping Renee. I hope your husband picks up really soon and starts making a stellar recovery. Bananas and avacado . . . could be worse. Does sipping ginger tea help?

Renee, glad you have your raw food business to keep you in the raw. I hope your husband is doing better very soon!

Sunny day here in Seattle, hubby working. Think I'll take the little guy for a walk and get out of the house for a few hours. Thinking of picking up some kelp noodles. Would love to make something kinda pasta-like (one youtube vid I watched suggested soaking them in lemon juice to soften the crunch outta them).

Made cauliflower popcorn last night. We laughed that between the two of us, we ate a cauliflower for dinner, heh. Then a chocolate milkshake for dessert (2 large bananas, 2 dates, mylk, cocoa).

    *crickets*
How is everybody? Ready for Autumn (all you northern hemisphere folks)?

We decided to leave the kelp noodles crunchy and made a yummy sauce. Nice to add that texture to our meals on occasion. Will leave the pasta type noodle recipes for zucchini and the impending arrival of my spiralizer thingie (eee!).

Long night with kiddo so my morning routine is a bit off. Will get a chance to eat some pudding in a bit, then not sure. feel exhausted today.

RedCedar, I was thinking about root vegitables? I donno.

FlowGlow, I hope you are doing well. It sounds like you are having a rough go of it. It's very hard when you first start and you feel just horrible. Ride it out your reward is on the other side. :)

imaquillen, I hope my body adjusts away from the raw fats. If I do not eat them, I do not feel full (currently).

RenneH, it sounds like you have been under a lot of stress. I wish I could reach through the monitor and I give you a hug. I recently read about how healing and NOT eating are connected. I do not know if it will make you feel any better, but this is what I read. http://www.soilandhealth.org/02/0201...020127.ch8.htm

I am still here and I am still 100% raw. We had a busy weekend and I did not have much time to post. Even now, I’m running out the door, headed home.

    Take care all.

That's what I was going to say. It works. Drinking a glass of chia green juice daily will make you immune to the cold and have an amazing effect on your mood...although I'm not sure if it would be somewhat less effective for non-sproutarians (sproutarians absorb nutrients much better - one reason we can almost live on green juice). It would certainly be an interesting experiment. Go for it FlowGlow.

Chia green juice is so impressive I've even decided to replace one of my daily glasses of grass juice with a glass of chia juice.

great idea re the beet juice renee! (few pages back) just a note - raw beets are amazing in smoothies too (and an amazing colour too - hot pink when blended with bananas).

Spirooli arrived yesterday! one of the few times when the hype over a product is valid. That thing was easy, fast and amazballs to use.

Made zucchini spaghetti with a tomato sauce (roma and cherry tomatoes, a little olive oil, way too much garlic, italian seasoning, and a little honey in the food processor). I was not prepared to like it as much as I did.

    yay for variety!
