how do you eat your buckwheat sprouts ?
I sprouted my buckwheat and now I am thinking..hmmm...how do I eat them ?
I try to food combine so I do not want to miss combine them ...
Any Fav's ???

you can use them for breads, cookies or juice them.

You can puree them up with some vanilla, agave, cinnamon, and then dehyrdate and break into pieces for a super-yummy cereal!

I second the cereal recommendation. I haven't made it personally, but I've had some buckwheat granola made by someone else and loved it! It's especially good if you throw in some seeds (sunflower, pumpkin) and dried fruits (I like cranberries). I also often top it with fresh coconut shavings and almond milk. Not sure if it's a good combination, though. It doesn't bother me, so I keep loving it for weekend brunch.

Go back to the buckwheat cereal.....I just bought some buckwheat, and I plan to sprout them. I just bought a food dehydrator, so I would LOVE a recipe for something like a cereal. I don't have agave, but have honey (will that work) I need some amounts of each...like a recipe? Or at least a description of what it should look like going into the dehydrator. Thanks.

buckwheat
this morning I just did up these two batches from 2 cups buckwheat total. (started with 2 cups dry, don't know how much it was when done).
I put about 2/3 of the buckwheat in the food processor with 5 Empire apples (peels and all, no cores) and 6 dried black mission figs and cinnamon and lemon juice. dehydrate like cookies. (you could sweeten that if you want).
The other remaining 1/3 I put in the food processor with a small yellow crookneck squash, a bit of olive oil, and a bunch of herbs and chives, salt and a pinch of cayenne and a squeeze of lemon juice to make pizza crusts in the dehydrator. The herbs were basil, oregano, marjoram, and thyme, and tons of chives.
I'm with Wendi wanting a good recipe for cereal/granola, so please post 'em if you got 'em.
I bought some amazing raw cacao granola from a raw food restaurant (made with buckwheat), I'm also dying to try to make something like that.

I sprout buckwheat, then mix it with almost anything I want, in any quantity
I choose (no recipe) to make a granola....dates, raisins, banana, cinnamon, coconut, coconut oil, etc. and whirr it in the food processor just to grind the buckwheat som. Then pop it into the dehydrator on a mesh sheet until dry.

Morning food
I sprout buckwheat, then dehydrate it into "buckwheaties."
Then I mix it in a big gallon glass jar with
chopped walnuts
sunflower seeds
pumpkin seeds
rolled raw oats
dried apples
dried nectarines
raisins
chopped dates
I put this in a bowl, slice a banana or put blueberries on it. Top it with almond milk and it keeps me full all morning!

"Slimy" Groats?
Hi everyone!
I'm trying to sprout buckwheat groats for the first time. Wow, they're so slimy!! I was just about to give up, not thinking they would sprout, but by discovering this thread, I have renewed hope. I've been rinsing them, but wasn't sure if they would sprout or not. How long does it normally take for them to start sprouting?
I look forward to making a morning cereal, too! Thanks for all the info ;)

Yes - the buckwheat gets a bit gel-y - but it should only take a couple of days to sprout. I find that I have to make sure I don't soak them too long.
Also, I fourth (fifth?) the cereal! I snack on the dehydrated cereal while I'm at work.... I have also made bread with it, but have been sticking with basic flax crackers lately (they're SOOOO easy)..

hey guys...I have tried the buckwheat a few different ways. I had it for cereal one morning with nut milk and berries. I found it did not hold me off till lunch so I decided to use it more in snacks/treats. I am a Green Drink Fool until mid day.
I also found in recipes I need to soak it as it is very crunchy. Today I soaked the sprouted sprouts in coconut water with sprouted oat groats, ground up with some various seeds and a few almonds, added yacon, vanilla splenda liquid and raw carob and made a crumbly granola. It is in the freezer now. Taste so yummy.

Just curious. Has anyone ground them into a flour and made into "flakes" of some sort? I was in the store and started having fond Heritage Flakes memories.......hum......any ideas?

They've Sprouted!
Thanks for all the info on the b/wheat sprouts; mine have finally sprouted - just little white shoots starting to spring up - will they sprout any greenery at all? I'd like to dehydrate them to make them crunchy... how long should I dehydrate, what temp, and how do I know when they're ready to dehydrate??? THANKS SOOOOO much for all your help, everyone, I just LOVE sharing info on this site and lately, I've been spending LOTS of time here!! You guys are awesome
