Cost of Juice Feasting?

I want to do a 30 day all organic juice feast as soon as I can.

I have to prepare financially for it, so I am asking here how much it would cost to do a 30 day juice feast with all organic veggies and fruits?

Any realistic help will be appreciated!


p.s. I would want to do more veggies than fruits.

If you some space then you could grow all the greens you would need yourself. Even if you only wanted spinach it is easy enough to do and it even looks fab in a planter if you have to grow in pots. Pea shoots and wheat grass and that makes 3 really cheap green things to juice. Melons, Apples, carrots and cucumbers would be my next choices because they have a high juice content but it's hard to say exactly how much it would cost as I imagine each juice feaster consumes differing amounts. Good luck with it. I don't think I could manage 30 days.

Nope, no space. No fresh air and no sunlight in my tiny apartment. I will be doing sprouts as I can do those with 1/2 gallon mason jars.

I don't know where you live and what the set up is in terms of others with space ... but ... over here there are schemes whereby someone with a garden they can't fully manage any more lets someone with no garden use a part of theirs. Are there such schemes in your neck of the woods? Have you lots of desert and not much soil? Are there gardening clubs or cooperatives you could join?

It's hard to say, but I would guesstimate it at around $100-$150/week, although it could be less depending on how creative you are at it and the availability of organic produce in your area. One thing you could do is go to a farmers market and see if you can get deals by buying a lot of bulk for staple items.

I recently did this and spent a good deal more per week, but I would guess I'm probably twice your size and was also buying all organic food for my girlfriend (not juice fasting) at the time.

Overall, I thought I would be spending less but it turned out to be a good deal more than I normally spend.

It is always more expensive for us to juice fast then to just eat raw.. We just use more veggies to produce a good amount of juice. We will usually make around a gallon of juice a day per person (about 4-6 qt.). So we probably would spend around what drraw said.. 100 a week.

I hope you can save to do it soon. I've done juice fasts for a few days at a time but I do love juicing. I am still trying to adjust to a new juicer so some days they are better than others.

I hate to sound like a broken record but just a little bit of foraging could save you a whole bunch of money! I recently identified a very large stand of lambsquarter back off the road on my way home from work. I keep a set of pruning shears in my van and I came home with no less than 25 3'-4' plants every day this week.

They grow very happily not far from where I used to live. Good for vit C if I recall correctly. Most green juices can be juiced from foraged or home grown sprouts/micro-greens. Very little space needed.

There is so much lambsquarter on my way home from work that I am never going to get 1/4 of it. One of the things I like most about it is it goes through my manual juicer pretty nicely! Some of it is now starting to go to seed so I am watching carefully to see if I can get a whole bunch of sprouting seeds harvested!

I appreciate your continued persistence, delmar....BUT I live in cement city! 60 miles by 60 miles of cement and outside of that is the desert. I live in Phoenix, Arizona, right in the middle of the city!

p.s. YOU are VERY fortunate to live where you live. BUT we are all not as fortunate. I would LOVE to move to an environment where I could forage, garden and breathe fresh air but that costs money and money is what I DO NOT have!

I've heard there is wild aloe growing in Phoenix. Have you seen any :-) Last time I visited Sedona, I heard from a few people about foraging options. I'm sure there must be some things in Phoenix.

Yes, Sedona would absolutely have foraging options. It is much lusher there as the climate is much different than Phoenix. No, I have never seen any wild aloe growing in Phoenix. The aloe plants I have seen are those that people plant in their yards as decoration. Unfortunately, I am allergic to aloe or I could always knock on someone's door and ask for a sample...(wink)...
