Default Freezing Smoothies and then Thawing Them Overnight

    Hey everyone!

I have a question and I was hoping I could get some answers!

I want to have smoothies in the morning as my breakfast. I have some problems though.

I get up earlier than my boyfriend and using the blender in the morning wakes him up (we live in a tiny carriage house, probably comparable to a tiny studio apartment in NYC), so there's no way I could make them anywhere else. I can't do it where I work because there is only a tiny minifridge, I can't store multiple containers in there, it's always packed to the brim too. Also, it's a studio space, I don't want to disturb my coworkers if I kept a blender there and blended everyday. It's also not the healthiest place to make food, it's an artists studio.

So, I was wondering how well this solution could work.

I make everything in advance and thaw the smoothie one at a time overnight. So I would prepare a weeks worth of smoothies in individual daily containers, freeze them, and the night before, i would put one frozen smoothie in the fridge, and when I wake up, it's thawed.

I was wondering if this was a good idea or not. I might loose some nutrients for sure, but does anyone know how much? Is this a good idea? Is there a better solution to my problem?

Thanks for taking the time to read my problem!

That would be better then nothing at all.

About juicing or having a talk with your friend to be tolerant in the morning.

The thing about frozen, it is dead also. Anything cook or frozen isn't a live food. We do icecream etc.. but if your goal is health purpose, then you need to consume frozen food in moderation. I use to use frozen fruit for my smoothie, i don't anymore. You could either ask for a compromise with your friend or save for a juicer. Slow rpm juicer are quite and don't make noise.

At my work, i bought a cooler that look like a grocery bag and i put ice pack in it. It acts like a fridge.

I wake up early and my house is like open concept, so the blender is heard everywhere clearly. My family aren't bother by the noise because they got use to it...

    All the best!

Hi Ally ~ I agree with Raw Angel Mom in that if this is the best you can do, then go for it!! We all have to make this work, one way or another. Freeze your smoothies and let the good times roll ~ ~

Thank you Raw Angel Mom and DebB! I will do this although it probably isn't ideal, it's still better than cooked (although I wouldn't cook fruit to begin with). I cannot compromise with my boyfriend, he's a sensitive grump in the mornings (shhh don't tell anyone I said that)!!! My favorite advice is about the cooler bag, I will totally get one of those!

    Thanks again! :)
