Putting on weight on a raw vegan diet
Has anyone managed to put on weight on a raw vegan diet ?
Avocado and nuts and coconut oil and other oils aren't adding any weight.
So, how does one gain weight on a raw vegan diet without consuming various forms of sugar ?

Ionly put on weight when I tried High Carb Low Fat raw. I am trying to get it off now. It seems to be working more fat and greens are the key for me.

Do a colon cleanse, parasite cleanse and maybe candida cleanse. Parasites especially can prevent you from gaining weight and absorbing the nutrients from what you at.
Cocobut oil isn't a good choice for weight gain, as it increases metabolism significantly. People actually use coconut oil to lose weight.

Do weight-bearing movement.
-
seed milks
walnuts
hemp seed

If i was you, i would focus on allowing my body to detox fully and it will normalize on its own when the timing is right.
If you struggle to gain weight, without question you need to look into your ability to absorb. Again, while doing raw food, your body will heal.
First goal, is to stick to 100% raw food, Second goal, is to restore balance in your gut area while healing your kidney and major gland. It is a journey and long one for certain people and a short one for others.
No matter what, going 100% raw food is important. Please allow your body to heal and don't be afraid to be underweight for a little while. If you heal your GI track, you will be able to gain the weight you need.
All the best!
Blessings and love

Hi folks.
I am having a bit of a struggle to gain weight on a vegan diet. On a vegetarian diet was okay. But being a vegan has been quite hard. Although I can keep it working out and eating 6 meals a day as my goal is to gain muscle mass. Now that I am transitioning to raw vegan, even harder...(Alhtough I eat, grains, seeds, nuts, avocados etc...)
I've always been suspicious about my colon(intestines), and I do know that I had a parasite a few months ago. Not sure if I could kill it though. Does any know what kind of doctor I should go to look into this? Whenever I go to a GP they always prescribe me a medicine, I take them but the parasite seems to always come back.
I live in Sydney(Australia), would anyone recommend and special doctor? Someone that understands about raw food, and could relate those things to a diet? instead of just somoene that would give me a medicine?
Maybe a specialist on colon cleanse? I have no idea who I need to seek.
thank you very much

What Traceyraw said.
I LOT of people complain about gaining weight on the high-fruit raw diets.
If I read your post correctly, you want to gain weight, correct?
I am trying to lose weight so I am excersizing and eating the fats you mentioned.
If you want to gain weight, be less active but eat more fruit and less fat. I have read as high as 3000 calories from carbs! It's a lot of fruit, but it seems to cause some people gain weight.
On a side note, I think those high fruit diets are geared toward athletes and people that burn 2000+ calories a day. Maybe the high activity level is what causes those people to lose weight like crazy. You should see them. Not an ounce of fat on that. I don't get it.
Good luck

Count your calories........do weight bearing exercise.....get plenty of rest. You need enough calories combined with weight bearing exercise to put on muscle, and you need the rest for your body to rebuild.
There are many camps in the raw vegan world and I've experimented with a few of em, so I can't tell you what you ought to be eating......and everyone will give you their own opinion and experience on the matter. So I would suggest you learn as much as possible and put it into practice to find out what works for you. My opinion and experience on the matter led me to look at low fat raw vegan. I looked at the blood tests of those who eat LFRV and noticed they have excellent results......also they have lots of energy and very little fat. So I've been experimenting with that lately......combined with some double kettlebell exercises I've put on 14 lbs in the past 6 weeks. The fat stores on my body are also diminishing. I also have LOTS of energy and feel like doing something everyday. "compared to when I ate quite a bit of fat...I just wanted to nap all day....and I blamed it on detox...lol" I think the weight gains would be more if I got more rest...."not sleep, I sleep plenty"....but I've been mountain biking pretty hard 4-5 times a week.....and I would prefer to get out in the forest on my bike than to just sit around so I can gain a few more lbs.
One last thing, I wouldn't recommend like robh says....."be less active and eat more..." You don't want to get skinny fat......"at least I assume you don't"....and being less active and eating more will make you skinny fat. You need to move and be active and get your body into shape. It will respond to the circumstances you put it through on a consistent basis......if you sit around all day it will adapt to that type of living....if you are active and lifting weight, peddling up mountains, climbing rocks, swimming, running, hiking, playing in general....it will adapt to that.

Can you all imagine the abundant world we would live in if we all planted the seeds of every plant we ate. You wouldn't be able to throw a stone without hitting a fruit tree or berry bush or some fruit/vegetable bearing plant. Imagine the bees that would thrive in such an environment. Putting on weight on a raw vegan diet
Thanks for all replies folks
The weightbearing and the kettlebell was new for me. Never heard about the weightbearing.
I guess I really need to start counting my calories indeed as well.
Although I still think my parasites are hindering my progress somehow. I really need to look into this colon cleanse thing.
Does any one recommend one in Sydney?
Fastfredom, would you mind to share your eating routine? What do you usually eat a day to put on weight?
Thanks

I myself feel this is the only way to go. Only your body knows where it is suppose to be. You take Raw Angel's advice and you will see results.
It's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years.

digobh - I don't have a routine of eating. I just eat LOTS. Way more than I used to. Here's a good place to start, IMO..... http://www.30bananasaday.com/forum/t...tch-on-lfrv-no I've been eating from 3500 - 4000 calories per day.
