Default Restarted raw diet... feeling nausea

I lasted one month on mostly raw diet. I did not have enough recipes to keep going longer, i got sick of the ones i knew of.

I restarted raw diet along with my mom, and we been on it for 7 days, but both of us are having nausea.

Anybody else had this? I usually get nausea if i wake up really early and dont eat for a long time in the day (on SAD diet). But my mom gets nausea after she eats the raw food. and i been having nausea from raw food too, but to lesser extent than my mom.

Incorporate green smoothie, it helps me to cope with craving and to start craving raw food instead.

You could have parasite. They don't like healthy food and they give nausea.

Can you bring a list of food that you eat. Many factors can give nausea.

If you do eat the same food all the time, and your body is giving you nausea, then change. Green as an example, you need to rotate them because there is a natural poison that mother nature put to avoid for animal to eat all the same species. If you rotate them, this poison will strengthened you. My first year of raw food, i use to use zuchinni a lot and i wasn't able to eat them again without having nausea for a very long time.

Also, what do you do in term of safety? Are you sure that your food is clean? Water, do you drink tap water????? If you do, please filter it at the very least and wait 20 min to drink it so the chlorine evaporate. Check with your town, if they use chloramine (mix of ammonia and chlorine), if they do, don't drink that water ever.

Anyway, try to give a little more information so we can share our experience with you.

Don't give up raw food, it is such an important step for well being and youth.

    All the best!

A lot of my nausea when I started raw was due to too much experimenting with recipes that I didn't understand the food combinations. In other words, I was eating too much variety and not enough whole foods. When I simplified the upset stomachs went away. Studying up on food combining and what goes good together and what DOESNT might help you.

Genesis 1:12 And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind,
and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind:
and God saw that it was good.

The same thing happens to me each time I start raw again and it can be brutal. This last time I started raw I did two things to help the nausea. I got a colonic and I incorporated small amounts of steamed veggies. This was to slow down the detox. Now, I know Alissa Cohen does not advocate this, but it worked for me and now I am on day 35 of raw with no nausea and I am feeling great! Good luck on your raw journey!

I haven't really ever experienced this. But I've discovered what is very beneficial for me especialy with withdrawls is to either sit in the sun or shaded area under a tree and focus my attention on the sun and draw in energy of the sun. Sort of like mediating. The results are.. I become vibrant, lose all or near all withdrawls and feel like I just ate a plate of food. And my body and mental state focuses on what next to eat that is healthy. And eating more of mono foods sometimes helps. Sometimes food combinations can trigger more withdrawls due to old habits.

Yes, I experience this every time I start raw. I did two things this last time that helped. I got a colonic and I ate a little organic brown rice with steamed veggies. I suffered for my first two weeks of raw and then did both of those things which completely took away the nausea. I am now almost 2 months raw and doing GREAT!!!

Some people may not agree with my comment above ^^^^^, but I was about to give up on raw the nausea was so bad. I am fine with what I did as my food choices were whole foods which slow down detox just a bit. I was deathly ill with detox for the first two weeks and am glad I stuck with it (even though I added in a bit of organic whole foods).

Make sure that you're eating enough. I get nauseous doing raw if I do not eat enough. Also, drink lots of water.

I have never, so far, gone 100% but I do notice a lot of posts by people who have stopped and started. So my observation is this start slow. Even Mr Raw, the most hard core Raw foodist that I know, says start slow! Buy some seeds in bulk and a manual juicer and no matter what else you do do a little raw every day! Sprout, juice, or forage for something wild every day. Never let a step backward be an exit from the raw lifestyle.

I don't think of Mr Raw as hardcore raw - I think of him as hardcore Sprout eater (albeit raw).
Slow works well for some people but some people are better able to do it if they just go cold turkey. It depends what works best for each person I guess.
