    Red face Hi I'm John

Hi everyone. I am John from South Wales in the UK. I am so glad to have found this site. I started juicing about 8 years ago (on and off if I'm honest) but only discovered raw food a year or so ago. I'm 48 and have suffered depression since I was 17 years old. It has dictated my whole life, my work, my pleasure, my decisions - absolutely everthing. I am married to a very patient and caring wife and we have two gorgeous kids.

A couple of weeks ago I went raw for pretty much the whole week (not a lot of time I know) and I did feel the depression lift quite considerably. Extremely stupidly, I started to include a lot of cooked food and even some chocolate and other processed snacks (gasp!!!). Of course the depression came back in full swing, ie feeling so down yet again.

I've missed a lot out of course but where I am now is - I want with all my heart to go 100% raw and to put off completely the cooked foods and other processed junk. I believe it is the answer to lift depression and I so much enjoy eating healthier. I think my one main problem is that I can't find enough recipes to keep me going. I get fed up of salads all the time and raw chocolate etc etc.

Any help would be very gratefully received. I am so glad to be here on this sight and looking forward to interacting with everyone.

John...I hope you find the inspiration to stay raw. While I think some of us back slide at times, allow that it happened and take it one day at a time. Focus on the positive aspects of raw eating and what it does for you and perhaps next time you can pass up the food that is not benefiting you.

    Best of luck to you!

    Hi John.

Im new to RAW. I am slowly changing and introducing more raw foods into my diet. I can certainly tell when I have had a great raw meal. The feeling afterwards is amazing. I know I have so far to go to re-educate myself. And sometimes I feel it to be very overwhelming, but I will keep pushing along and try to keep improving my eating habits and hopefully that will reflect in my day to day happiness and health.
Good luck John on your journey. I hope you are successful, and know that Donna from wintery Melbourne Australia is wishing you the best of health and happiness.

Hi John! I'm so happy for you and the success you have had in over coming your depression! I think going off of raw and seeing the symptoms and pain of the past coming back is what gave me the resolve to get back on raw full force as well! It's so incredible how our thoughts and emotions align with the food we nourish ourselves with. I experience a level of inner peace and calmness that is almost surreal when I'm eating only raw food. I'm happy to meet someone else who's life has been so positively influenced by raw food! Good luck on your raw journey John, I wish you all the happiness and success in the world! :)
