getting discouraged
OK- I've watched FAt Sick and Nearly Dead twice. I stayed up several nights researching juice fasting etc. I've watched umpteen videos of fasters on youtube, seen all of joe cross tips about fasting etc. I was all geared up to do 100 days. I bought books on it, got an omega etc.
I'm 11 days in now. I never really did detox or anything- no headaches etc. I was raw for 2 months before starting this- I'm sure that helped me heaps. I'm really wanting the food I'm cooking for my family and that wasn't an issue at all when I was eating raw. I've found a new favorite juice recipe that has salt in it.. it s so good I could drink it for lunch and dinner daily I think, but I dont think I want all that sodium in my body. I'm supposed to be cleansing right? I'm cranky- have been for 2 days now. I'm also still frequently hungry, I thought that was supposed to go away? I'm drinking about 3/4 gallon a day and I can't afford to drink more, I have 6 kids and a hubby to feed- and a dog and 5 cats, lol.
Since I started eating raw, I haven 't weighed myself. I am fitting into clothes I haven't worn in a year etc, but haven't seen any numbers. I'm kindof afraid to get on, for fear that I'll be dissapointed with the number I see on the scale, but I wonder if that wouldn't help encourage me.
I have to be honest, I'm almost 75% doing this for the weight loss. and for the sense of accomplishment. I'm the type of person that doesn't finish what she starts. I want to finish this. but I dont know if I can.
is this typical? do most fasters have these days? I'm feeling really weak, mentally. There isn't a specific food I want to eat or anything, I think it's just that the honeymoon phase is over. It's not fun watching veggies turn into juice anymore, lol. my juicer is ticking me off (omega 8004) because it's slow, gets clogged frequently with pineapple and .. did I say it's slow? (I know this is a good hting, but I'm a busy momma!)
so I THINK I'm gonna aim for 30 and see how I feel about it after that. I think after that I'll take it in 10 day incriments.
I could benefit from finding more savory recipes as well. My absolute fave atm is aleeshas tomato blend recipe on the favorite juice sticky. (that's the one I spoke of above, with the salt- it's not very good w/o the salt unfortunately) I need more savory ones. I have 2 juice recipe books, but so far I'm not fond of any of them. also- I'm not crazy about kale and collard. I really only like spinach and I hear it's not good to eat/drink too many of that because of .. oxelates? is that it?
wwyd? tell me about your rough days? maybe you can link me to blogs with others talkinga bout how they got past it? I've read about how after you get past 30 days, you've missed the best part of the experience. I want to make it past 30 days- or at least to it. I can't let a couple rough days set me back. I'm needing some support, yall! and the support thread is kinda dead. :/
EDIT: I am tempted to buy another juicer to speed things up. I dont mind taking my time on the weekends or something, but this just seems silly! I did mention this in another thread, and I was told that the juices aren't as good from centrifugal juicers, but.. I think I'm ready to accept that. do you guys think this will help? It will probably do better w/ tomatoes and pineapple too, huh?

Hippo2Hippie, btw love the name:) First of all stand up and applaud yourself! Do you know how many people would not even think about doing a 100 day juice fast? Remind yourself why you are doing this, remember you are doing something thousands of other people would never have the courage to try. Drink lots of water and when you are going through those hard times take time to go for a walk, meditate or pray....again reminding yourself why you are doing this. I have only done a 30 day fast and it took me 2 weeks to get through all the detoxing stuff and then started to feel amazing. I think your 10 day approach is a great idea! Reward yourself with how far you have come and soon you will be looking back and the 100 days will be done:) PS. with the juicer - I have a champion and a juiceman juicer, they both produce the same amount of juice it is just one has more pulp then the other. If I am in a hurry I use the juiceman, if not then it's the champion. Best wishes to you!

Thanks cablegirl! A friend tsked me for my screen name since referring to myself as a hippo is less than kind to myself, but it's alright.
All great advice. I think I've realized now that the cravings and everything have passed, that it's the summertime rush when I'm cooking yummy foods, cleaning the kitchen, disciplining kids, giving baths etc, that I get weak. The fast isn't what I need to give up, maybe I should change something about my routine. :)
I'm also watching food matters and sipping detox tea. I have to remind myself how wonderful the foods I'm feeding my body are for me! This movie is helping!!
Again, thank u for encouraging me. I can do this! When I make it to 30 I'm going to find you and let you know!! :)

Don't be so hard on yourself. After all, you are caring for your 6 kids, your husband, your dog and 5 cats and yourself. Now, please tell me anyone else that you know that can do all of that, and still have a sence of humor. Your will power is better than you think it is. You go there Super Woman ;)
It's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years.

Just do what you can every day. And know, that will be enough. Ask your angels to help you stay on the path you have chosen. You never know who is out there to help you unless you ask. Remind yourself that you are an amazing person and everything you do is just enough.
