avoiding the extreme hunger??
so I was talking to a friend last night and telling her about my fasting. I dont really give this info readily unless someone asks why I'm not eating while everyone else has their faces full of birthday pizza.. or that sort of thing.. ;) so I mentioned that the hunger is supposed to subside around day 5. she looked at me out of the corner of her eye and said "that's not what my frieeend said." I'm not about to be discouraged, and she wasn't trying to, she was just talking :) she said this girl had a blog and sent me the link.
they were going for 10 days. this woman quit smoking cold turkey and they caved on day 7. her blog says:
my question: how do I avoid that? she says "after several juices," so I'm thinking she was eating enough. I've seen pics of her juices and she was definitely making some without greens, and she didn't care for the green drinks but was drinking them. She was NOT a raw eater to start. Hopefully since I've been 97% raw for 2 months, I can handle it. today is day 3. I'm really feeling fine- some hunger, but it comes and goes. I wonder if she was drinking enough water. Have any of you gone through this? I'm shooting for 92-100 days, and I do not want to fail!
The breaking of the fast was snowballing towards me. Day 5 was GREAT, I felt WONDERFUL…Day 6, I felt TERRIFIC! Then Day 6 “night time” hit…even after several juices, I was just plain hungry. All day long I was hungry, all night long I was hungry. I figured, well just get over it…so what, you’re hungry. But this was a different kind of hunger….I can’t explain it. Unless you’ve been there, you’ll never know…it’s the kind of hunger that best describes starvation. Day 7 and I was desperately wondering where all that “energy” everyone claimed to have, was….why am I still so tired and hungry. Sure, I felt great during the day, but anytime I exerted a little energy I was exhausted.
The blogger most likely was not experiencing the "energy" because she was still detoxing, and unlike you, was not following a cleansing (raw) diet before she started.
I've fasted numerous times, and the hardest day for me has always been around day 3 or 4. There after, it gets easier, so hang in there.
Thank you :). So you think the extreme hunger was detox? Interesting.
Yeah I wouldn't pay that any attention. It looks like that blogger's reasons are different than yours and you're going into this a lot more educated. It sounds like the blogger was experiencing a heeling event (climax of detoxification). She might have mistaken some digestion discomfort as hunger, that along with not having energy can be mistaken for hunger when really those are symptoms of detoxing. Detoxing symptoms, in a nutshell, are like flu symptoms.
And green juice is more substantial, I cant go that long on a fruit juice, two hours later I need more that's when I grab a green juice.

No. My post was initially referring to the reasons why the blogger was not "having that energy everyone else claimed to have"

Btw, I'm on my 3rd day of another mc fast with no hunger pangs.

Definitely going through fasting may leave you exhausted if essential nutrients are not provided fully. I also used to keep some fasts and it seems that I have no energy even to talk.... It's really a strange experience for me.
I think hunger going away by day five refers to a water fast. With a juice fast you are not shutting down the digestive system so you will feel hunger between meals. Juice fasting for me usually reguires an increase in the frequency of my "liquid" meals through the day to keep my activity level high.
If you are juice fasting I'd say stave off the hunger with extra glasses of water. Drink one every ten minutes until it subsides. If you are getting enough juice to maintain your energy level and still hungry or feeling weak, increase your juice production and save a bit for between meals.

My actual water fast is completely different from the previous one. From the past, the hunger shut down after three days and you go on the healing mode after. At this time, i didn't feel hunger yesterday (first day) except toward the evening which i feel was emotional. I affirm "I am free" and feel it is right now and not until i am done with the fast but NOW. It seems to work for me, i express gratitude also.
So what ever the goal you have set for yourself, affirm it is done now, knowing that your body is aligning to this truth. Side effect would be the proof of it because your body has to release what doesn't serve you anymore. Stay in your truth and gratitude.
Drinking water, seem also to cut down the hunger.
You are brave and you have what it takes to be a success. Believe in you now, knowing your wish came true at this right second.
All the best!
Blessings and love

We do not have information if this person was doing any kind of exerciser during her first few days of fasting. I remember last year , i tried going to gym while on my 20 some day of juice fast and afterwards I was sooo hungry I could not stand it. Somebody later on this forum explained to me to be careful with exerciser while feasting/fasting because U can have this terrible cravings , I mean terrible.
