Thread: Sleep

    Default Sleep

I've heard from a few sources that if you eat a raw food diet for a while, you eventually need less sleep. The premise seems to make sense: you digest food easier, there are less toxins in the system, conversion efficiency from food to energy is very high, etc.

I'm curious to hear from some of you long-timers. Has your sleep patterns changed since you went raw and how long did it take and what happened?

I definitely don't need as much sleep but it is hard to measure for me because since giving birth, i had problem to have complete good night sleep due to stress, hormone etc.. When i first went raw it was great then i started to have other health issue and sleep problem. After doing water fast, it has restore, yeah....

Bottom line, raw food has been a great help for me but it didn't immune me from the side effect of stress etc... I had to dig deeper with fast and still need to do so.

    All the best!
    Blessings and love

sleep is easier and more restful. I don't know if I need less because I have much healing still to do and I place a lot of faith in the power of sleep when it comes to healing.

I haven't noticed needing less sleep. I need the same amount and sometimes more depending on how active I have been during the day. Though I do have more restful sleep and find the only reason that I awake during the night is if I need to visit the bathroom.

Can you all imagine the abundant world we would live in if we all planted the seeds of every plant we ate. You wouldn't be able to throw a stone without hitting a fruit tree or berry bush or some fruit/vegetable bearing plant. Imagine the bees that would thrive in such an environment. I see a world.....................

I barely need any sleep at all these days; nothing really happened after I went raw, even after a few months, but after I became a sproutarian and started doing qi gong and meditating (cultivating life energy) I now only begrudgingly go to sleep at night because I know that it is still very important for health. I could probably easily stay up 48 hours straight and still have loads of energy now, but I sleep for a few hours (from 2-6, depending on how busy I happen to be during that particular night and how much time I can set aside to sleep) every night anyways because not sleeping is very damaging to your health.

I feel like at some point I'm going to be able to get by with just 1-2 hours of sleep a night and suffer no ill effects - I can already get by on that much sleep and still feel great, but it's probably not the best thing for my body.

Sleep just isn't very important anymore, I pity those people who struggle through the day with no energy and can't wait to collapse into bed at nighttime (and probably watch television during all of their free time *shudder*). How do they ever get anything done?

I think there is a lot of enjoyment to be had from sleeping :) I enjoy it enormously but I wake up after about 6-8 hours. I imagine I'll need less when I have been raw longer. Much healing needed yet.

But would sleeping be as enjoying if you never got tired? I don't dislike sleeping, but I'm at the point where I don't really get tired but I still need some sleep for body maintenance, which is unfortunate because sleeping seems unnecessary (based on my energy levels), even though I know it isn't.

Yes I think so. I enjoy the dreams I have for the most part. The stress comes when you can't sleep but you want to.

I used to have that problem too, but now I fall asleep within minutes of lying down to go to sleep (despite not being tired). I feel like that's how our body should work, and you'll get there eventually.

I've always felt sleeping is a waste of time. I still hate sleeping. I'm looking forward to a time when I can get by with less than 6 hours and still be healthy. I'd do much better if we had 28 hours a day instead of 24. If I do get tired and take an hour nap I'm good for another 16 hours it seems. :/ Which at this point for me isn't very healthy.

Bf, previously on anti-depressants for both depression and inability to sleep has stopped taking them now he is mostly raw. He wakes up better too.

When I eat high raw I feel rested on 2 hours less sleep a night and it's easy to get out of bed in the morning. However, if I'm under severe stress this doesn't happen no matter how raw I eat.

You need better stress coping mechanisms :) What have you tried so far?
