    Question Are kids ALWAYS hungry?

I have a friend who's 4 year old son is ALWAYS hungry...like 10 min after he eats he wants a snack. And he's constantly saying, "I'm hungry!" He is on a SAD diet so I'm concerned he is not getting enough nutrition and I want to give her some suggestions on better meals/snacks for him.

I did a Google search for more info and it turns out this is a common problem among SAD eaters, but I was curious to know if any of the RAW kids on here have the same experience??

Or maybe they are going through a growth spurt??

Anyways I found out that children need way more calories than adults and should be eating more than them. Also, sometimes kids may be thirsty as they are not old enough to realize the difference between hunger and thirst.

That's all I've found out so far...any tips?? Thanks, guys!

sometimes it is a child seeking attention especially if the child associates food with being comforted.

My kids are mostly raw and they are ALWAYS hungry. At first I thought they were just adjusting to the raw diet, but its been over 2 years. One son (5 years old) in particular is always hungry. He cries constantly for food. He even wakes up hungry in the middle of the night. Their diet is pretty well balances, I bled greens into everything and they eat salad once or twice a day. Any ideas?

A few years ago I went to a retreat with Storm, Jinjee and their kids. They always kept fruit around and the kids could eat as much as they wanted. I'd almost always see them with something in their hand unless they were outside playing. I think it was Doug Graham who said "If you don't want fruit, you're not really hungry." So, if the child is really hungry, give 'em fruit!

My six kiddos are high raw. They usually have soaked grain for breakfast with a smoothie. This really satisfies them. Lunch is usually veggies with guacamoli and some nut dips or veggie wraps. Sometimes they have cooked beans with their lunch, but still lots of raw veggies. Dinner is always a big salad and a little cooked side. Like revvell said though.... I buy tons of fruits and veggies and my kiddos can have fruit through out the day when they are hungry. I don't really worry about it. If they're hungry, they can have fruit to eat, and they love it!!

Me too...my kids are high raw. I make sure I especially have Bananas on hand and my 13 year old son almost always eats 2-3 a day, especially when he's hungry. I also keep sweet fruits like grapes or strawberries within reach. They really love Smoothies too, so I try to make at least one a day.

    Default snacks

It would be good to have snacks ready all the time. Bring it with you wherever you go with your kid. It could be fruits, salad or drinks. I would always take my Almondie almond butter with me so that when I'm hungry, I just make a glass of almond milk with it. It is so versatile.

I think frozen stuff is easy snack food for kids. Frozen bananas are so easy to make, just peel and freeze. My kids wrap a paper towel around one end and then eat it like a popsicle. I also buy bags of frozen fruits and they eat them frozen out of a bowl like finger food. The older kids can get their own food this way by themselves without my help:-)
